Myths about canine teeth?!
Answers: How can any1 know what our canine teeth are for since no one was around when we got them...canine teeth by design are for ripping, not just plant matter but meat aswell...the commen vegetarian rebutal is we werent meant to eat meat..id like to see them prove it, if we werent why do we not die when we eat it, or throw up instantly...secondly people say our teeth wud be like wolves if we were meant to eat meat....and my response..wolves are carnivores, we are omnivores...have u ever seen a wolve eat a fruit??? we dont need teeth like wolves to eat meat because we dont use our teeth to catch our prey, thats why they dont need to be powerful enough to bring down animals...lions and wolves all have powerful sharp teeth as they need to use thier mouths to bring down food. we use our brains...perfect example here...we can swim in water..yet nothing about our bodily features even suggest we should swim, we have no flippers and no gills but we all still swim...any thoughts?
any thoughts?
It's already been determined that canine teeth are for tearing meat. There's no debating it. Those who disagree are simply trying to convince people to not eat meat.

yeah. so what exactly are you asking?
Well firstly this isn't a vegetarian/vegan thing, seems more like biology/anatomy question.
Our most primitive ancestors ate a plant-based diet (apes, pretty much). Their teeth resemble ours much more than omnivorous animal's teeth do. However, I do think we're meant to be omnivores, our systems can handle eating meat just fine.
The thing is, vegetarians and vegans can CHOOSE not to eat meat and they make that choice willingly. Most of the ones I've talked to don't claim that it's against nature or that our bodies are not built for it. Rather, they have well-researched, sound reasons (meat industry's impact on environment, health benefits of a plant-based diet, protest against the despicable conditions mainstream meat is raised in).
Besides, if we can survive and be healthy on a plant-based diet, power to us. No sentient, feeling being had to die for our taste buds. It's just a choice that veg people have made.
P.S. Not all animals that are excellent swimmers have flippers, gills, scales, etc. Elephants are excellent swimmers and many other land animals swim and HAVE to swim sometimes to get to other locations, migrate, catch fish, etc. Hippos are one of the most graceful creatures in the water and one of the most ferocious hunters in the water, and yet on land you wouldn't think it by looking at them.
Animals that have flippers, gills, scales are typically animals that adapted because they spend most or ALL of their time in water (something humans don't!). If we were to suddenly and slowly spend more time in the water - and we will as our world's icecaps melt slowly due to global warming (which is heavily tied to the meat industry's destruction of the environment) - maybe our bodies will start to adapt as well, who knows?
The thing is we may have started off at one point by being a carnivore, but since such a time we have evolved differently to other carnivores such as lions. The proof lies within the digestive system, 'carnivores have in their stomach hydrochloric acid ten times the concentration that humans have. This means they break down flesh (and even fish bones) much more quickly than we can. Another important difference is that they have comparatively shorter intestines than humans have. As a result carnivores will assimilate flesh more quickly and efficiently, and also eliminate it more quickly.' You might retort to this saying that you eat meat and haven't died yet, very true, but the digestive system is amazing at adapting. You can see it in carnivores like dogs who manage to digest vegetation. But it doesn't mean this meat is good for us, it's not. However, these reasons aren't why i became vegetarian, I did it because my conscience has evolved to tell me I believe it is wrong.
Edit: Okay I see I haven't explained properly, the facts I've given mean meat will lie in a human stomach for hours on end before moving on, too long for good health. Look at the statistics on cancers related to digestion and their link to eating meats. I doubt even if this was enough evidence for you, you would truly follow it and stop eating meat, so why are you asking? I believe it's only to prove your own point, which you have not.
Edit again: Why ask a question if you want the answerers to 'shut up' when expressing quite a simple opinion, you seem very hostile...perhaps from too much meat haha. I am merely telling you facts I have been told myself, which you have asked for. I apologise for answering your question, i thought that was the point of YA. How very silly of me.
P.s. I didn't say if you eat meat you will get cancer, so don't twist words, you'll make yourself look illiterate, I merely told you to look at the statistics, which show those who eat meat are at an increased risk of being predisposed to the disease.
Human "canine" teeth are actually not suited to tear flesh. Look at this picture: http://www.medem.com/MEDEM/images/AMA/am...
They're more suited to eat processed, cut-up flesh or vegetable matter.
Compare the image above with true carnivores: http://www.wildlife-pictures-online.com/...
Obviously, the two pics are much different, suggesting that humans were actually meant to eat more plant-based foods. Human teeth are not able to kill a live animal because our teeth are basically level. We do not have the teeth of "natural" meat eaters.
Have you ever seen a person able to tear up a steak with his/her teeth? NO F*CKING WAY!! They always use a knife for reasons that are plain, simple, and are of face value. Never trust someone who claims that we are natural meat-eaters. They haven't done the research necessary to claim one side or the other.
