What is the difference between eating organic vs. natural?!
Answers: As in USDA approved over foods that are from the same organic company but have food out that is labelled natural but not organic.
Organic has a strict set of guidelines, including no artificial pesticides or fertilizers, no genetic engineering, no growth hormones, etc.
Natural just means no synthetic ingredients.
"Natural" can mean just about anything... but Orgainic is the truly natural product. If you want real food that has not had pesticides and chemicals on it ... go for certified organic.
Organic products are farmed and grown by humans, but they are produced in an entirely non-chemically aided way.
Natural products are things that have been in no way tended to by human hands, such as mushrooms in a forest.
I'd typically advise organic over natural, as eating said mushrooms is never a good idea.
I will give you good example for you to try yourself. Go to store and look at the labels of Breyers Ice Cream, (Box shows All natural) and read the ingredients. Next look at the ingredients of Organic Ice Cream. Breyers first choice ingredient is milk followed by cream. Under law, the most prevalent ingredient must be listed first. In the Organic, organic cream and organic milk listed. So is any other ingredient listed will be organic.
Food labeled "natural" can really mean anything. But if you see the USDA organic symbol on the food, it means that it is certified organic. Organic means that no pesticides or commercial fertilizers were used in the growing of the ingredients. However, I believe that you do not have to be certified in anyway to label your food "natural", so really you could just be saying that.
Organic means that no pesticides or chemical fertilizers were used, and that the food has not been subjected to radiation.
"Natural" has not been significantly defined by the USDA, and can mean virtually anything. With regards to produce, if carrots are labelled "Natural," it does not mean they were grown without chemicals and pesticides, but it might mean they were not irradiated.
