I have recently become a vegetarian. What are the good substitutes for meat?!

Question: What good stuff can human get from eating meat?
Do they say it's good because the good stuff it gives is only protein?

well... What are the substitutes for the meat?

Thank you!

Iron: Black beans, bran flakes, cashews, Cream of Wheat, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), GrapeNuts, kidney beans, lentils, navy beans, oatmeal, pumpkin seeds, raisins, soybeans, soymilk, spinach, sunflower seeds, tofu, tomato juice, and whole wheat bread.

List of faux meats, which are usually very nutritious:

Good luck!

soy, other beans, nuts, etc. try boca products or gardenburger

Beans, tofu, eggs, nuts.

Tofu, turkey, boca burgers. All that other vegetarian crap.

Lentils and nuts are an excellent source of protein along with soy products and you may also give this a try. People who have tried micoprotein swear by it.

bon apetit!

My wife an I eat soy ceviche, which is made with texturized soy. You can find any ceviche recipe on the internet, and substitute quick-boiled and chilled soy.

Another good one is portabello mushroom, for a meaty flavor, although I am not sure of the protein content.

The best thing in red meat are the proteins specific to it.

Chicken and fish are really good if you don't eat red meat, but if that is out of the question...get creative.

There are meat substitute foods by morning star brand, but they can get pricy.

I drink a shake every morning with soy protein powder.

Soy chorizo is cheap and good.

Beans have a lot of protein, and can be prepared in hundreds of way.

beans and nuts. you need your protein

tofu mung beans lentils nuts lots of psatas and eggs for protien.... lots of greens!

You should try tofu. I know that people say that it's gross, but it tastes great in soup!

many people use tofu or tofu products in their vegetarian diet.
others use nuts, or nut-based products, nut milks and cheeses
beans are a popular "meaty" addition to the vegetian diet.
On the market, either in health food stores or in regular supermarkets, you can find veggie-dogs, ground beef substitutes, and all manner of TVP (texturized vegetable protein, ie. soy protein)

they sell a lot of meat substitutes at your local grocery store. also tofu is good.

actually eating meat is not that great for you sure there are some things in it but the fat and stuff in it isn't that good for you. (also by becoming vegan/vegetarian you have less chance of developing heart disease.)

The best sources of protein for a vegetarian are nuts, seeds, and legumes.
