Is eating animals cruel?!
I feel so guilty when I see little lambs running round fields so happy, or little chicks making little clucky noises.
I always cry when I see videos about cruelty to animals but yet I still eat meat!!!
Am I a bad person?
Is there anything I can do to help stop cruelty to animals???
Answers: I like eating meat. But I love animals.

I know what you mean but the answer is no. The food chain is what it is and every living organism has to feed on something and remember, if our distant ancestors hadn't eaten meat and fish for protein our brains would never have grown and developed to the point the we are at least able to ask this sort of question in the first place!
Yes - start eating Japanese people instead - that would help to save the whale.
You're not a bad person. I'm a vegetarian for ethical reasons, but my mother isn't and often feels the same way you do. If you must continue to eat meat, try to eat organic products, free-range, or meat that didn't come from a factory farm. Also try to cut back on your meat intake, even if you still eat just a little. You'll feel healthier in the long run, and maybe someday you'll make the transition and quit meat completely. Good luck!
Its all about where you buy your meat from, whether it is cruel or not.
If you buy cheap meat - the chances are that the living conditions were equally cheap for the animals.
Just try to buy free-range and organic, and locally sourced meat and the animals would have got the best care known for such animals and that is all you can do.
I mean, some people stop eating the meat altogether, but you know what? They are gonna kill just as many animals, its just that they go in the bin instead of getting eaten.
Is eating animals cruel?
No, it's an natural daily happening in the animal world. Always has been, always will be.
If some people wish to not participate though, they have that right and I admire their cause.

its normal its survival, they do it so can we, we are all animals.
I never eat lamb. I must be a hypocrite because I eat chicken, pork and occasionally beef. I saw a lamb being born in a hedgerow in Scotland in 1970 and have never eaten it since.
I think what you have to consider is that if we didn't eat meat, animals would still have to be killed to keep their numbers down. Britain is a relatively small island and is already over populated, so we couldn't allow animals to take up much space. We would also have to farm more land to produce vegetables to compensate for the loss of meat.
You are not bad You are normal. There is nothing wrong for feeling a bit of sadness that another animal must die so that you can eat but that is the natural order of things. Just be thankful that you can eat.
Eating meat is not cruel, you can't help what evil people do, but not eating meat won't make a diff. Just pay attention to whom you patronize.
Eating animals is essential for all the vitamins and energy you need to survive
nothing wrong feeling the way you do. there are people that mistreat animals, I don't agree with that either, but I am and will always be a meat eater. the ones that kill me are the people that won't eat meat, but they will eat fish, oysters, things out of the water
You sound pretty normal to me. I doubt most people would be willing to go out back, grab a pig or chicken, whack it with an axe, then cut it up for dinner. We just weren't brought up in that environment.
But to the farmers, they don't see their livestock as being cute. They just see platters of meat and dollar signs.
At least we use most of the parts of the animal for food and other products. If you want to talk about animal cruelty, check out what science does on a daily basis to animals for testing. Granted, it's for the good of mankind, but its hard not to also see it as the mass slaughter of 1000s of animals a day. A friend of mine used to work in a biology lab, and rescued a few mice that were going to be destroyed because they weren't needed for an experiment anymore. They lived quite happily at her apartment for several years before dying of old age.
i dont think its cruel i think we need to it 2 survive i no it sounds harsh but its the way of life
Well, I guess the animals would think so. But thank goodness, they don't know what's in store when they're frolicking and clucking in their happy lives. As long as the animals are treated well, lead good lives and are butchered in a humane manner (which is not always the case) then I'm fine with it. And remember, sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear eats you!
Well its the hard truth it isnt you'r not a bad person and those cruelty videos all they are is a proppaganda video...to stop cruelty give lone dogs or cats to animal shelters
That makes no sense. You don't want to go vegetarian, but you want to know how to stop cruelty to animals? Going vegetarian (vegan) is the EASIEST way to help stop cruelty to animals. If you can't do that, there's really nothing else you can do.
To lessen the cruelty you could start caring where your meat, eggs, and dairy is coming from. http://www.eatwellguide.org, and educate yourself on what companies test on animals and stop buying from them. http://www.caringconsumer.org.
i believe eating meat is not cruel if the animals are kept and live in good conditions, you mention little lambs, round fields so happy, and chicks, making clucky noises, you are not a bad person, but quite honestly, if you need to do something i think it is cruel to keep animals in bad conditions, where lambs are not happily in there field and chicks do not make clucky noises because of the conditions they live in, this is not your fault or anyone asks for,but if we need to eat meat, surely at least the animals should be kept firstly in humane conditions, i watched a tv programme some weeks ago where chickens could not even walk due to the conditions they where kept in certainly put me off, and something needs to be done,i wouldnt exactly go veg but i cant endure them living in such a bad conditions, and certainly would if i thought chickens had to go through such.or any other animals.did you see the news regarding horsemeat of recently, and the horses left to starve,in a situation that only there sale has horsemeat was of interest, and totaly neglected, how disgusting.
Not your not a bad person if people like you and I and all the other intelligent well balnced meat eaters didnt eat meat then the lambs and the chicks that you speak of with such affection wouldn't even be born. Thjay would have no life because they would have no use and would by now have become a pest and would need to be culled anyway. So in conclusion not eating meat is a lunatic self defeating lifestyle cause which people like the veggies on here need to look at a lot closer then they clearly do
I'm a vegetarian & have been one for several years.
I used to eat meat and I also used to feel so bad like you, I also felt like a hypocrite cos I cried when I saw stuf like Gordan Ramsey killing lambs etc. But then I thought, that happens to animals every day.
So one day I stopped, and Ive never been happier.
Unlike what some people are saying, eating meat isnt essential to your diet, you can get protein etc from things such as nuts.
Theres nothing you can do to stop cruelty to animals, but if you want to have piece of mind, only eat free range meat & animal products.
And if you want to become vegetarian, good luck! :)
These questions are starting to get boring....
That all depends on your moral framework.
I think it would be benefiacial to understand how meat is produced, the consequences of eating it and not eating it.
If you can then rationalise it within your own moral framework, eat it. If not, don't.
For me, eating animals is cruel but that is my opinion. I am not going to judge you because everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you must do what you feel comfortable with.
my view is that all my ancestors ate meat, so even if i didnt like it, i would still eat it for spiritual reasons
yes eating animals is cruel go veg today! xD
