Isnt everything we eat toxic?!

Question: i mean by this doesnt everything we eat have toxins to some degree...such as plants to stop them being eating by the species that wudnt serve their purpose to spread their seeds? and meat to avoid too much being consumed? when i was at university we studied toxicology and found out things like almonds and apples contain small levels of cyanide in their seeds..obviously u wud have to eat alot of the seeds to get ill...just wondering what every1 else thinks of this and any1 had any experiences with toxic fruit and veg or meat?

Yes,Buzz Dis right. Everything we eat can be toxic to a degree. But mostly not by consuming "normal" amounts but by over indulgence. Even water. You can't drink 2 gallons of even the purest bacteria-free water in one sitting without getting ill. Of course eating spoiled meat, veggies and fruit will have adverse effects. You know that since you have studied it that rotting or corrupt fruit, veggies and meat have enough bacteria in them to not only make you sick but kill you outright. And for the most part, plant foods do have natural toxic chemicals in them to prevent predation by animals. sour, biter and spicy tastes are some of the ways plants discourage animals from eating them.(It has been suggested that fruits have a sour taste when unripe because it is not yet time for them to germinate their seeds. but when that time comes, the fruits are already full of sugar to entice the animals to eat them and spread the seeds. chillies also use this method. Their preferred seed spreaders are bird so they produce "heat" because other animals can't stand the spice but birds can) .Just as other animals like tree frogs have toxins on their skin/internal organs etc to prevent other animals from eating them

I try to keep my intake of tainted meat and toxic fruit to a minimum. Its just something my mother always told me to do.

Thanks to her I'm not brain damaged or dead.

But yes everything we eat is toxic to a degree. But nothing we eat is going to have the effect of anthrax. Its all about moderation. Test your water every once in a while is a healthy practice also.

Shouldn't this be in medical and not vegetarian though?

I'm not sure but my science teacher told me that peanuts are radioactive. Well if you want a dose of CJD have some British beef. lol

Pretty much. The food supply in many countries, including our own, has been so genetically modified and tainted, that eating natural foods is rare.

I believe that the reason some people have longer lifespans than others is due in large part to the bad food supply.

It opened my eyes.

Good question Adam T!

This statement is often made by people trying to rationalize that since plants are toxic as well, it must be okay to kill animals. They usually never make the similar leap of saying that since plants are toxic it must be okay to kill humans. (Human flesh is the most safest because he care the most his body!).

However, if you still persist that modern agriculture is wrong and paradigm shift to a Microbial / organic diet is necessary, then only the vegetarians are “there” to follow you! Such diet evolution is clearly defined in ethical and conscience manner, i.e Paleolithic diet, Omnivorous, Lacto-Ovo, Vegetarian, Vegan, Raw Vegan (RVAW), Fruitorian, Microbial, and finally Breatharian.
