Do vegan's need supplements for protein?!

Question: You cannot get protein from supplements, unless you mean like those protein shakes or bars.

No, vegans do not need them. Vegans can get protein from seeds, nuts, legumes, fruits, vegetables, and some grains. The best sources of protein of all those though, are the seeds, nuts, and legumes.

Btw, one's protein each and everyday does not need to be complete because the body will store up essential amino acids it needs. However, as a whole all the protein one's eaten throughout the weak should be complete. I would say at least 60% or more.

There are 8 essential amino acids for adults. Complete protein has or contains all of them. The other 12 which are not essential are non-essential because the body can synthesize them.

You can eat legumes and nuts to get a high source of protein. I'm thinking there is a more diverse supplement out there for vegetarians. We are omnivorous, so its not really good health-wise to be vegetarian. You'll be lacking in more than just protein. See a dietician.

No. There is protein in just about everything - nuts, whole grains, seeds, vegetables. There is more protein per calorie in broccoli than in ground beef (half of broccoli's calories come from protein while most of beef's calories come from fat, as fat is 9 calories per gram, while protein is only 4 calories per gram). There's more protein in a cup of whole wheat pasta than an egg. Not to mention foods like tofu and seitan, which are packed with protein. Protein is the last thing vegans really need to worry about, it's hard NOT to get all your protein every day.

Vegans can if they want to but nuts, beans, tofu, veggies can give vegans protein as well. If a vegan doesn't eat any of what I wrote above or anything else that has protein+vegan, then yes they should take a protein supplement.

Complete protein, which consists of all 21 amino acids does not exist in any one plant based food. You can easily get these amino acids by combining foods as many cultures have done for thousands of years. The best combinations are rice and beans, corn and beans, whole grains and legumes (beans, peas, peanuts), or potatoes and peas. Don't think that a peanut butter sandwich on white bread supplies all of the protein. It needs to be on whole grain bread.

No, we get our protein from food just like anyone else.
