How long have you been a steady vegetarian/vegan?!

Question: or pescetarian is you still eat fish but no meat?

the longest ive gone is about 5 months pescetarian because i cant stand the way animals are treated, and honestly i just plain ole dont like meat. but its really hard being 16 and having to mesh with the rest of my family who eats meat. so when im not eating meat, i eat fish to get some pretein and not have to make my mom prepare two different meals when they are eating seafood.
but when i move out, im going 100% veg.

so what about you?

I've been a vegetarian for 7 years, since I was twelve. I did it for the same reasons you did. I lived with my mom, at the time and she was not having it but I didn't care. I just ate everything she made, minus the animals. I got protein from Morning star products and Boca products. You could also eat protein bars. I understand your problem and how it's hard on your family, and I'm definitely not trying to criticize you, but remember that fish suffocate and also suffer violent deaths. Not to mention that humans are eating fish at a rate faster than they are reproducing.
Good luck with this. I'm happy there's going to be another vegetarian, helping to change the way people see animals one person at a time :)

I was vegetarian for almost 5 months now. When I move out, Im gonna be vegan

well i am a boy 14 yr old and a vegiarian since the beginning of august 07 . yeah it is hard sometimes because i dont eat fish or meat becuz if i ate fish i would not be a vegitarian. even tho it is hard i just think of the animals and how there lives are more imporant than me not being picked on . i think u need to get ur priorities strate

26 years a vegan

I've been a vegitarian for about 7 years. I haven't had any problems giving up meat.

Vegan for 1 year and a couple days. It's my veganniversary!

Wow, nice job everybody!

Ive been a vegetarian since I was 4 or 5... thats as far as my childhood memory goes back. I do eat fish, and although I dont eat meat, I love using beef broth and beef seasoned food. I hate the smell of all poultry food, especially chicken.
My choice to be a vegetarian isnt related to the way animals are treated... I just love my veggies!

I started Today and its not hard at all. I'm going to continue with it.

vegetarian all my life. vegan about 2 months!

i'm been a pescetarian for a little over a year now. i eat fish becuse my doctor informed my mom that it could possibly harm by body if i don't. but when i move out i'm gonna commit all the way.

Fourteen years a vegetarian and two years a vegan..

I have been vegetarian for 1 year and 2 months.
Still going strong.

I've been a vegetarian since I was 10, for 10 years! I turned over to pescatarian when I was 13 too, my family thought fish would help the protein deficiency I had back then, I still eat tuna and salmon. I get enough protein now from the recipees I make using lentils, other beans, tofu, and soy products. It is hard as a teenager and you sort of live off the non-meat side dishes your parents make lol.

I'm not,but I'm seriously considering it. It seems really healthy.
If I did ,I would probably become laco-veggie.

I am 16 I've been vegan for a little over a year and vegetarian for two years before that. I never want to go back and plan to live a vegan life for the rest of my life.

Vegetarian for 21 years, vegan for the last 6 months

Going on 9 years as a vegetarian, and trying to cut out more eggs and dairy everyday :) I started when I still lived with my parents and it was hard at first because no one else in my family was a vegetarian. While my parent's weren't really supportive, they put up with it (I think they thought it was a phase and would pass, lol). I pretty much ate whatever side dishes my mom made as long as it didn't contain meat, and sometimes made my own fake meat as a main dish.
It can be a hard transition (I started out still eating chicken, but my mom then made chicken all the time so I could eat it, so I finally had to give that up to), but just little by little eat less until you cut it out completely.

I've been a vegan for twenty years. The key is to surround yourself with people who think and eat like you do. You won't miss what you never see and all of my friends are inventive cooks so we're constantly challenging one another to make better food. We share tips, recipes and sources.

Vegetarian for 10 years, vegan for 6 months.
