Do you have any problems dating meat-eaters? Does it affect your love life at all?!
Answers: Please go into detail. Thanks.
I let my bf know when I met him, that I would not ever cook meat,or have it in my house. What he eats on his own time is up to him,but I still give him a hard time sometimes.I wouldnt want to kiss him so much if he ate a hamburger, but what are you gonna do?So I never have to see it or smell it anyways,if he eats it at all which I dont know for sure,I am never around.
My wife became vegan with me... but based on the experience of many people... it depends...
Most of the times... yes... it's a problem.
Meat will end up grossing you (if you are the vegetarian/vegan) and you won't be able to go with your date to a grill... and that will be a big difference...
Also... I do not know why, but I feel people feels uncomfortable with vegans present. They feel guilty because they are supporting animal abuse... or just because they think they cannot do it.
However, some meat and not meat eater couple succeed...
im a meat eater...i dont mind
im vegan and i just tell my date that if we are going out to dinner and normally he will not like pig out on meat. i have no problem with my love life.
No, doesn't bother me as long as he's also a supporter of PETA (People Eating Tasty Animals).
I have been a vegetarian all my life (now vegan), my husband has been a meat eater all his life.
We respect each others choices. Of course if he said he would stop eating meat. I would be happy, but I can not force him to.
At home there is no meat, because a) I am the primary cook in the house, b) I do not know how to cook with meat c) the food I make is really good! and super healthy!
When we have children they will be raised as vegetarian, they make their own decision as they are older.
But food habits are not the only difference, I am East Indian, born in India, raised in London UK. I was raised Hindu. I do not believe in wars!
My husband is American, born in Wyoming, raised in Wyoming. Raised as a Christian. Former Marine.
We meet in California, and now live in Utah! - we are both very well educated, have very good paying careers, live in a lovely house with two dogs and cats!
Love is love. -
p.s. I don't think my husband likes the cats very much though! LOL!
My boyfriend totally respects my views as there are few places in the north (of the UK) where I can eat so he tells me to choose a place as he can eat anything whereas I am restricted. It therefore does not affect our relationship, I do feel bad sometimes though!
It depends. I think it's mostly about how much both of you can compromise. Plus, being able to respect each others views.
When I lived with my boyfriend, we both made sure we understood each others' boundaries. We both compromised very well. Luckily, he wasn't the biggest meat eater so he was very flexible when it came to what I cooked. I would say 80% of the meals I cooked were full on vegetarian. The other 20% were vegetarian side dishes that would go along with a separate "real meat/or fake meat" main course.
When it comes to cooking/preparing meat, I would allow myself to cook it (with a spatula, etc) or warm up say, chicken noodle soup, but not touch any of it at all with my bare hands. I won't prepare it either.
As for kissing, etc after he's eaten meat, I would say that if he had meat in his mouth and at the same time wanted to kiss me, I would say no. If he recently ate meat, then I asked him to drink a sip of water or wait a few minutes.
When going out, he always looks for a menu that has a veggie option and checks with me first. If it doesn't, then it's a place for him to go out and eat with his friends. We lived in San Francisco at the time, so finding a restaurant to accomidate us both was easier.
