"The moral progress of a nation can be judged by the way in which it's animals are treated" ~Mahatma Gandhi

Smart Man.

Albert Einstein~Vegan.

I love animals very much and, yes farm animals are treated horrifically from the day they are born. Thay are seen as commodedies, not living beings. They are born to die. I beleive that animals were placed on this earth for their own reason asd purposes, they do not want to die, and feel fear, lonelyness, and pain just as we do. Only they cannot express these feeling in a human language, so many people do not beleive they feel anything. It is sad. If people saw where their meat comes from they definately would think twice about that fecal-laden, decaying flesh burger they were about to stuff into thier mouth. What poeple dont know doesnt hurt, Ignorance is bliss for these people. Little do they know that education is the Key to Compassion. Gandhi was a very noble vegetarian, and Einstein was supposedly one of the smartest men in history and he did not eat meat either.

Educate people on the wellfare of these animals.

You may want to check out www.farmsanctuary.org, they are great ambassadors for farm animals. Check out their links on Fois Gras, and veal too. Educate yourself.

Keep on loving animals and feel free to contact me.

No I don't love animals

But i do not agree with how commercial farm animals are treated.

And i do beleive they understand fear, pain, community, awareness of thier breed/family, thought processes etc...

Hence the ovo-vegetarianism

.....

"Slaughterhouses just industrialized the process"... yep, just like bullets just speed up the murder of a person..it isn't really an aguement for firing the gun though, is it ?

Tnx Angel, I too was taken to a slaughter house when i was 12 - apparently my dad thought it was part of growing up !!

Cows, pigs, chicken, sheep, fish, and other DOMESTIC animals have been raised and slaughtered for food and other purposes for centuries. Slaughterhouses just industrialized the process. With some exceptions, the animals are killed as quickly and as cleanly as possible.
Even if I lived on a farm, and knew the animals personally, I would not become a vegetarian - I love the taste of meat and have no qualms about eating "murdered" animals.

I draw the line on pets, though. Unless I'm at the doorstep of starvation, I'd never kill and eat my dog or cat.

I love animals.. i was raised on a farm and i had to shoot one of the cows that broke it's leg because my grandfather wanted to "toughen" me up. I never got over that. I will never forget that as long as i live.. When i was about 11 years old i went to a slaughterhouse with him to see one of his friends that worked on the "killing" floor.. that was crazy in itself.. I think if people actually knew where the meat came from that they eat.. they would have a totally different thought of what is on their plate at night.. but that's just what i think... :o)

Michael-- i gave you a thumbs up.. :o) i hope this makes your day.. i know how it is having a troll follow you around giving thumbs down for stuff.. :o)

See Michael.. my little troll Adam T got over here and gave me one too.. :o)

i like animals, but i also like meat...i don't have mental diseases when i eat them...

I absoultly love animals

I have been a animal activist for my entire life but have just recently became a Vegan.

Im against anything that can harm an animal in anyway end of story.
:)

Wow is everyone getting rated?
Oh well lots of people just means lots of Opinions.

I want love, respect and kindness. So if I want that, surely I should be able to give that. Especially to those that are the weakest and more vulnerable in this world :- animals!

I love animals. I have loved animals since I was a little kid. As a kid I cried when I saw shows that showed animals hurt on TV (even if it wasn't real). I think that animals are innocent creatures, and honestly I like to surround myself with them more than humans at times. I think they are the purest of all creatures in this world. I have been a vegetarian for a year now and I couldn't be happier nor more proud of myself. I really think there is a lot of truth to Gandhi's quote when he says: "The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way in which its animals are treated."

I like animals. I eat meat. I also know what happens in the slaughterhouses.

Did you know that if an animal becomes afraid their adrenaline can spoil the flavor of the meat? That's common industry knowledge. It's in the slaughterhouses best interest the animal doesn't know what's about to happen.

There will always abuse cases and they should be addressed but that is a separate matter.

i love animals and i worked voluntarily at an animal shelter for 4 years but there isa difference between pets and farm animals...just as you would have flowers in your house but not a wheat plant as it serves no purpose as a flower in your house...i dont see any1 taking their pet cow or pig for a walk around the park with a leash...thats why i think there is a difference between domestic farm animals and pets...i know ill get thumbs down cuz i dont say wot every1 wants me to say and quite frankly i dont care...i just had a burger and i ate gonna cry myself to sleep over it :) have a nice day. oh and tortie below...einstein may have been a vegan...but guess what..hitler practised vegetariansism and even endorsed it and he was the most evil man alive....what do you think about that??? angel ur the only troll here bashing meat eaters and hyping veggies at every oppurtunity...grow up or leave.

Actually I do love animals and even though I am not a vegetarian, I agree with the cruelty and mistreatment that the animals face on a daily basis in the slaughterhouses. I can eat meat, yes, but I dont think that part is right. I just did a 7 page research essay in my English class on the mistreatment, abuse, and terrible things done to animals in zoos and entertainment sections.

I think that the way animals are treated is wrong and animal rights should definitely be considered more.

Yes and at first when I was little I didnt even know they were tortured. I never liked the idea of me eating something that had a babie and walked around like you and I. I never liked the taste that much anyways.

Yea I love animals. Seriously cows are about the most stupid animals on the planet. They are electricuted before they are slaughtered other wise the meat goes bad because their adrenaline is pumping. It is quick and painless. Talk to a farmer some time they will tell you stories that are worse than that. That is farming and that is how beef catle and hogs and chickens meet their end. It might look horible but it used to be worse.

Farm animals are not your friends they are someones lively hood. They are raised to be slaughtered. I'm sorry if that seems mean but that is how people make money. Farming hasn't changed in that aspect. Sorry but you need to get over it.

I love all animals. They are all so tasty.

I love animals to death and I think it's cruel how they are treated. But at the same time, we, in this section, always talk about the farm animals. What about the animals who may not have a future because their numbers are descreasing everyday? The animals who don't have a protection on a farm? I'm talking about tigers and animals like that. There are more cows being treated humanely than tigers left on this world. We go around protesting for slaughterhouse treatment rights and stuff, but we should really be pooling our funds into the animals who may not have a future. Farm animals will always be around--they will never go extinct because even though businesses are cruel, they are smart and wouldn't ever let that happen.

Animal treatment is RIDICULOUS! I just decided to go veggie, because of everything that's been on the news lately. I can't stand the way they treat the poor animals! How could people do such mean things like that? If horrifies me!
