Is eating these eggs considered vegetarian?!

Question: I beacame a vegetarian recently because of the way the animals I ate were treated. I have a chicken, all I feed her is dried corn and fruits. She is a happy chicken and roams around the backyard all day. She lays eggs about 3 times a week (I don't have a rooster, so theres no chance for little chicks bieng in these eggs!). Can I eat them and still consider myself a vegetarian?

Sure can, seems like she's a happy hen.

We have 50 of them, i have no concerns over eating the eggs - they would clearly just be abandoned and left to go rotten if i didn't pick them up.

when i see statements like "yes, but your not vegan".. it "feels" like people are telling you you've failed. I wonder why they feel obliged to put you in your place. Its not a race or competition. For many people Vegetarian lines up with thier morals, why does that somehow feel inferior to vegan. It shouldn't.

The picture linked above is just propaganda childish shock, who ever took the picture clearly does not understand the biology of a hens egg.

yes....... your just not a vegan......

Regular eggs are considered vegetarian but since your chicken is well taken care of, you are a vegetarian and a half.

Yes, but not a vegan. Vegans don't eat animals or animal byproducts like milk and eggs. I think it is great that your pet is providing you with the iron and protein you will need by not eating meat.

Ovo and Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat eggs.

Eggs & Babies all precious to all "mothers".

Vegetarianism never stop at eating habit alone; Philosophy & a continuous journey beyond.

yes, eggs are nutrious

Yes, and its great to hear that people are choosing to eat eggs from happy hens and not ones that are cooped up in dark cages their entire lives. Good for you!
