Is fish some sort of meat?!
this does not relate to vegetarians since 1) not all of them are catholics 2) uhm they are in no way realated what so ever only b/c of the phrase " i am vegeterain, i dont' eat meat"
Answers: so catholics are not allowed to eat any type of meat that includes poultry and beef... but is fish okay to eat? fish is scientificly classify as a type of meat yet bibicly its not.. according to some record your not suppose to eat that day other claim bread and water should do for the day...however the problem arises when fish comes into play... is it a muscle of the fish categorising it as meat or is it just biblical stuff that fish could only be consume freely b/c that is all the poor could afford back then for easy acces in contrast to hunting down an animal with expensive gear....

Fish is an animal, just like all animals (which include humans) they have flesh and muscle tissue which is considered meat, and some people eat it. In the biblical times fish and other sea animals were not considered on the same levels as other land animals due to looking different; as well land animals were not considered on the same levels as human animals due to looking different; as well certain human animals were not considered on the same levels as other human animals due to looking and being different; A lot of that unfortunately still applies today.
Catholics have a wide confusing contradicting range of beliefs, one of their beliefs is that Jesus (who they think is God) ate fish (although many things contradict this), so therefore it is okay to eat.
And yes, not all vegetarians are Catholic and vice versa.
fish are considered to be parve, neither meat nor a dairy food. The Catholic dietary restriction to "meat" on Fridays also does not apply to the cooking and eating of fish.
is fish some sort of meat?
Yes. I'll not get into the fantasy portion.

Meat could be described as the flesh of any living animal. So in a way fish is meat or the flesh of a fish. Vegans if I understood correctly don't eat meat because they feel it is cruel to kill animals for food or to process their hides. As far as being catholic I remember when I was little we ate eggs, fish or beans on Fridays. However as I grew older we would eat meat on Fridays too, my mother said the pope said it was alright to eat meat on Fridays even holy Fridays.
You're asking in the vegetarian section. We are going to tell you that yes, indeed, fish is meat. Vegetarians do not eat animals.
However, you're trying to bring religion into it. If you know the religious view is different than the vegetarian view, why ask it here? Ask in the religion section.
Fish is in meat if you like to eat it, is better than other meat because it is found clean invirment not like other meat which you don't know what kind of food the meat farmers feed their animals.
Yes Cesar fish are a type of meat. The Jewish consider them pareve which is neither meat nor dairy. Perhaps this is why the Catholics have not considered them to be meat. The bible is full of contradictions of itself and that is only one. If you are vegetarian then I wouldn't worry about it, just have yourself a nice vegetable based meal.
Vegetarianism and Catholicism have nothing to do with each other. Vegetarians don't eat animals; fish are animals. If the Catholic church wants to give people a pass to eat fish, that's their business. But they don't define vegetarianism and they don't inform my diet in any fashion.
forget the Catholic church... Fish is meaet
Meat= the flesh of a dead animal
fish= an animal
Fish (as a food) the flesh of a dead fish
ding ding ding.. 2+2=4!!!
