Im Going Vegatarian i need some help though.?!

Question: Ok i have ate meat for most of my life. But now everytime i do i can just imagine the poor animal that im eating and i usually get sick.
So im stopping. I have been an animal activist all my life.
I can easily give up meat its not one of my big concerns. But i dont really know any good ideas for what to eat now. So if you could reccommend any websites that are for Vegatarians that would be greatly thanked.
BTW im not eating anything that had a face.

peta.org it has lots of recipes on, allrecipes.com

I hope these help. I'm a new vegatarian as well. Good luck.

Think of all the foods that dont contain meat! Well, although some are unhealthy, they still are ok to have once in a while...Chips, Popcorn, Bread, Macoroni, Cheese (unless youre vegan), Milk, Eggs, and so much more. Tofu is great for vegetarians to eat, its 100% animal friendly and its great for the vegetarian because it contains the things we dont get from meat, since we dont eat it. Actually, anything in the Veggi-section in the market is really good. Veggi-Lasana, (sorry im a bad speller) Veggi-Chili, and more. Veggi-lunch meats are also really good. Pasta is also animal friendly. There is so much you can eat although youre a vegetarian. And dont worry:: you forget what meat tastes like all togeather after a while

I actually went cold turkey (horrible term, eh?) vegetarian three years ago, so here are some tips...

Don't eat tofu fake meat products except for Boca burgers. They just aren't worth it.

Learn to cook, yourself! Being able to make your own food from your own ingredients really takes a lot of limits off.

Don't worry too much if you DO have a craving for meat at some point. No one's gonna shoot you if you eat some, and often a REAL craving, not a habitual one, is your body telling you it actually needs something.

Take a multivitamin to fend off any deficiencies.

Okay, so that's that. Some of my favorite foods are eggplant parmesean (I amost died when I had it at Carmines in NYC... SO GOOD), everything-but-the-kitchen-sink salads (I like tossing in apples, avocado, berries, and nuts), thai noodles (which are often VEGAN), and sushi (do you have a problem eating fish? If so, go for inari... it's addictive).

Anyway, most of all, stay healthy! The things you tend to miss out on when you're vegetarian are B-vitamins and iron, and being anemic is no fun, especially because girls are so prone to it anyway. Thus the multivitamin. Don't go for iron supplements as they tend to make you sick to your stomach. Take the vitamin every day after breakfast, and I PROMISE your hair, fingernails, skin, and general health will all be transformed. It's one of the best habits you can get into.

I'm sorry, I don't know of any websites that can help, but I can offer some good general advice to your general questions.

A lot of vegetarians still desire the texture and flavors of meat, so there is a large market for meat substitutes. The most prominent of these is tofu, a soybean curd product. This is almost never eaten for its own flavor, but cooked with things like soy sauce, teriyaki or other salty and savory sauces to give a satasfying flavor. Tofu comes in firm and soft varieties. The soft tofu can benefit from being pressed and dehydrated or fried.

Another good meat substitute is a gluten roast or loaf. You'll probably make this yourself from a powdered wheat product known as gluten or gluten flour. It is the protein separated from the starch of wheat flour - the part that holds the bread together without as much carbohydrates.

Health food and asian food stores carry these and many other substitutes for meat in the diet.

When eating out or for special occasions look for dishes based on portobello mushrooms. Many resturants use them as the basis of a burger or burrito to cater to vegetarians. They are very good.

Examine the possibilities of eggplant, it is sometimes served grilled as a substitute for meat.

Textured vegetable protein, also labeled TVP sometimes, is a good substitute for ground beef. It is usually sold dried and must be soaked or marinated in sauce before cooking.

Check out the varieties of soy sauce, and look for aged mushroom soy, smoke flavor and vegetarian bullion. These may serve as a basis for flavoring broths or other dishes. Note that much kosher food will be vegetarian. So keep an eye out for Jewish chicken soup bullion, and shop ethinic sections of stores.

If you go completely vegan then you will need to supplement your B vitamin intake. You can do this by using nutritional yeast in some of your cooking. It has a flavor that might be compared to cheese, and in not made from animal products. People who don't know about vegetarian eating will ask where you get your protein, but that won't be a problem as it is available in many vegetables and in all your meat substitutes.

And be sure to eat a lot of beans and rice.

Great you are going vegetarian. The best way to do this is to get yourself educated. One recommendation I would add is not to go vegan as it eliminates all animal products and you will not get your complete proteins and skin will suffer. Suggest always adding cheese, eggs, milk and other non meat animal products with each meal.

I would keep at least dairy for the first month. This way you won't get sick. And after that,it's up to you.

no more jellos for you since they're made with animal tendons, ditto with marshmallows. Mushrooms, soy milk, beans, nuts are a good source of proteins. You can take some protein shakes and mix them with fuits to make smoothies. Are you ruling out eggs as well?

do not go vegetarian you going to became very sick and ugly, without any energy pleas do not steroid you self.Food is health and god food is a long life and healthy one
