Are New York Fries Fries okay for a vegetarian?!
Answers: I know that they dont use the same oil for anything but fries. and they advertise 100% unhydrogenated sesame oil. any reason why a vegetarian / vegan shouldnt be able to eat?
Most of the respondants are unaware of what a New York Fries operation is, I am a Canadian and we have several here in the GTA, I do not eat them, but they are fried in a trans fat free oil (not sesame but soya), they use russet potatos the same ones as used for baked potatos (they have less water).
They are oil blanched, then quick fried in a hotter oil for order, no tallow is used as they are fresh potatos and are not processed in a factory. So I say "Yes" they are suitable for a vegetarian, I like fries with either just malt or cider vinegar and salt on mine.
Although based on ones diet it may seem healthy, the only slight problem would be the high amount of calories that any french fry may have. Its more based on whether you want to ruin a healthy vegan diet by eating fried potatoes.
Most commercially available chips (fries) are partially precooked in tallow (an animal fat) before being supplied to restaurants, fast food outlets, etc. for later deep-frying in whatever oil they prefer to use. If unsure, ask the restaurant who their supplier is.
wtf who cares~!!! be a man! eat up
I second that -- who gives a crap -- what difference does it make. NONE WHAT SO EVER.
