Vegetarians only please...weird dreams?!?!

Question: When I first became a vegetarian, I had frequent dreams about eating meat. I would wake up and feel guilty, and wonder for a second if I really had eaten meat. Has anyone else ever experienced this?

That was a long time ago, and it wasn't a problem for me; I just found it ironic. Please, no snide comments about my subconscious telling me to eat meat.

Yep, I had those dreams when I first started my vegetarian journey. I woke up feeling really grossed out and guilty. I really started getting into animal rights around that time too, so I think it was just an overload on the mind. I don't have those dreams anymore, so I think that it's like with anything else an adjustment period.

That use to happen to me too...but I had a nice dream last night. I dreamt that I stole a baby cow away from the farm and kept it as my pet/friend.

I don't dream about meat anymore, but still dream about animals.

Give it time, I'm sure it'll end after a while.

i don't know much about dreams, but i've been told many times that your mind dreams about things that you are preoccupied with. so maybe it was just caused by the fact that you have to think a lot about when you're putting into your body. vegetarians read labels, ask questions about restaurant food, etc. a lot more than meat eaters do....maybe that fact that it's on your mind a lot just produced dreams about what you are trying to avoid?? i don't know, just an idea.

I don't think I ever did. If the idea of being a vegetarian was something you were thinking about a lot that's probably why you would dream about it. If I go to sleep after thinking about something or if I am stressed out a work I will dream about it. I've heard its how your mind cleans itself.

My cousins parents became vegetarians when the kids were about 10 and 12 for religious reasons. My cousins said they dreamed about eating hot dogs and bacon. My aunt has been a vegetarian for 30 years and said she still dreams about eating bacon. I don't know why people dream about eating meat when they become vegetarians, but I think it's perfectly normal.

i can answer you question with one sentance...
It's the human body to WANT something.
Ive taken psycology classes and ive learned that if youve done something for a large portion of your life, that you will either have dreams or fantisies about it. Like people who quit smoking have dreams of smoking, so will vegans/vegitarians who dont eat meat, dream of eating it.
Same goes with bad things too! If you are a thief your whole life and you decide to clean your life up, youll have dreams of stealing. It's just your mind's subconsious telling you to have it, because it WANTS it.

no that has not happened to me.

If you were a flexatarian you would know that mean that you need to eat meat!
