Is it true that in gummy bears they have pork something in them?!

Question: or pig juice?

Answers: or pig juice?

It is called gelatin. it is the stuff that jello is made out of. however there are gummy bears you could get that are 100% fruit that don't contain this as well as one that are gelled with corn starch(made from corn not meat by products). by the way it is extracted from the bones not juices.lol silly. read the lables

yes i do believe this is true i think it is the same with marshmellows.
i know they have kosher ones for islamic peopel.

yes it has some kind of animal fats in it called gelatine. look it up on internet to find out more.

wouldn't that be hilarious??

you can't even get pork in "pork and beans" anymore...

i dont think so but they do have gelatin which is a animal product that is grossssssssss

Gummy bears contain gelatin.

Gelatin, which is also in jello and a lot of similar products, is extracted from animal connective tissue. It isn't always from pigs, and can even be taken from fish for those who follow a specific kosher-type diet. Pork and cattle skin and bones, left-over from the leather industry, are the most common sources.

Generally, most vegetarians that I've known haven't worried about gelatin, and left it to vegans to remove it from their diet. It is an animal product, however, and its production is related to other activities that people who are vegetarians for moral reasons would probably object to.

Look for your jelly products to contain agar, carrageenan, or pectin. Those are from seaweed (agar and carrageenan) or from plant cell walls (pectin, often from orange peels or apple bits that are left-over from juice production).

And yes, the above-poster is correct--marshmallows typically contain gelatin. Originally, instead of gelatin, the extract of a plant (called "marsh mallow") was used, and it's possible to buy this in stores and make your own. There are some specifically marketed to vegetarians that don't contain gelatin, too, but you'll probably only find them at specialty stores.

That's disgusting. I'm never eating gummy bears again!

Maybe they should change the name to porky bears

true

check the labels. some may be ok. you can probably find a good kind at whole foods.

Some gummy bears contain gelatin, which is something found in cows hooves, I believe.

If you are worried about this because of the animal suffering, just read the ingredients and make sure they don't contain gelatin.

It's gelatin. They're pretty easy to buy vegetarian, though. Look for "real fruit" ones. :)

They have gelatin, which is made from rendered skin, bone marrow and connective tissue and is usually from pigs.

Yes. Search all candy and other products for the word gelatin in the ingredient list. Gelatin is not vegetarian on vegan.

some do. The bag of gummy worms i just ate does't have any gelatin in them.

Rubbish! gummi bears are made from sugar syrup ,starch and pectin and contain no animal fats or by-products.
