Will going raw be good for baby, too?!

Question: I am considering "going raw", adopting a raw lifestyle and diet. However, I am breastfeeding my 5 month old and I'm concerned that the cleansing/detoxing period will be too much for him. Should I transition slowly into being raw instead? Will going 100% raw right away be okay? Any words of wisdom from someone who's been there? Thanks for listening and God bless.

You need to feed your baby lots of breast milk until he or she is at least one. Breast milk has lots of stuff in it that aids in the growth and development of your baby.

You can have an infant or toddler on a vegetarian diet / lifestyle but a lot of what you feed the child will need to be mashed. Like mashed potatoes for example.

Baby food is fine, you can feed your child that. Get organic if at all possible though. Baby food is raw its just in a jar and mashed up for easier eating.

Raw soybeans are good too, your child can get complete protein from there. Get the raw soybeans and mash them up like potatoes.

Potatoes, pears, peaches, carrots, and bananas are good also. You can mash them up as well.

Your breast milk is made from what you eat. If you eat cabbage or other gassy foods, your baby may get gas. I don't know what 'going raw' means, but if it makes you sick, then it will no doubt make your baby sick, too. La Leche is sometimes a bit over the top for me, but they do know about breastfeeding. Call them up and ask their advice about this. If you don't know of a group in your area, google them online.

david wolfe is the guru for raw foods, findout how he has approached the topic.

Transition slowly and there shouldn't be any issues.

id wait til you finish breastfeeding

I would do the transition slowly. Many toxins are released when you go raw and the toxins do come out through your breast milk as well as your urine, feces, etc. It's always better to ire on the safe side when breast feeding. As far as vegetables making your baby gassy...well I breast fed all three of my children and I ate whatever I wanted to eat. The baby might react to what you eat, but I never had this problem. Toxins are totally different though, you don't want to expose the baby to a lot of toxins at once, so as I said go slowly and everything should be fine.

You should check with the pediatrician to make sure the baby would be getting all of its dietarty needs.
