Here is an article about crushed bugs used in candies...as "carmine", "shellac" and look for them disguised as "resinous glaze" or "confectioners glaze"...(also these glazes and shellacs are used in pills)...carmine is a red food coloring used in cosmetics and sometimes red or pink fruit juices, etc.

I recently found this out, I am staying away form those products. The best thing is that now, I am eating less candy, which is really good for my health! -

Honestly, who cares. Because if you liked it, and it tasted good, why would it matter if it was bugs? Like, if there was something delicious, and later someone told me it was something else that most people would assume to be disgusting, well then I would know better because I had it and liked it! LOL As long as it's tasty!

I did know all this. I've been vegan for 4 years , and was vegetarian for 9 years before that, and like any sensible person I did my homework before making the change. Moreover, I would never put those sort of sugar based sweeties in my body anyway. Ew. None of those E numbers, colours, or addictives are good for your body. My body is my temple and I try not to soil it (too often).

And who exactly are you trying to reach? If people already ate and liked it, where's the problem? Would you turn down a life-saving medicine because you thought the source was yucky?

When I worked on the farm there were little fat gnats. Quite often they would get in your mouth and they were sweet.

what i find funny is how every single vegetarian i talk to will assure you that being vegetarian is healthy...how can this be when you can still eat crisps and chocolate...being veggie wont make you healthy if you still eat these things...so plz someone tell me where the scientific proof is that ALL vegetarians are healthy because they stopped eating meat...

I know what can you do if manufacturers add these we cant do nothing just refuse to buy them but even then there are certain things we require in our daily lives that we have to have.

no

This is something that most vegans would already know, if they've bothered to do their research. To be honest, I don't think any of those things are for flavour - aren't they just for colouring and binding? There are better alternatives out there.
