Why is it that some people are so easily duped by PETA and others of their ilk??!
Answers: One of the arguments against my diet is that 'the average meat eater has 8 pounds of rotten meat in their gut.' And there are many more that I have seen parroted by the minions here.
because PETA and similar organizations (and by this I mean ALL organizations like PETA,not necessarily anti meat eating etc)have done their homework and know exactly which buttons to push for their target audience. PETA targets kids so they do their stuff using comic books and with organization like PETA2 which have youth oriented themes and use spokespeople who have youth appeal. They try to make PETA and its agenda look "cool". It's the same tactic used by say the Aryan Nation, using scare tactics( All African Americans are criminals and addicts", feeding the prejudice of its targt audience to promote its agenda)
.
But free thinkers and those intelligent enough to be wary of such salesmanship are not likely to join any organization which has so obvious an agenda like PETA. They can certainly look past the propaganda, the self promoting image, the hype, the lies and deceit and misinformation to clearly see PETA and similar organizations for what they really are: the fanatics you ignore. It is with the clear headed ones that you have smart, intelligent and meaningful conversations and discussions.
can you please explain your question and the relation to the comments. Sorry, I am not understanding what you are saying.
Once I know your question, I can give it the full attention it merits.
Are you saying we are easily duped into becoming vegetarian/vegan by Peta?
Because personally Peta didnt have anything to do with my decision.
For the same reason adamant non-vegetarians are duped by their government into believing that dead animal carcasses and other animal fluids and secretions are appropriate "food."
People can get overly enthusiastic about anything. Many people feel so strongly about one thing or another to the point that they stop being objective. PETA isn't the only organization that does that. Just consider anyone who strongly believes in any political party; they can defy logic to rationalize anything as long as it makes their favored party look good.
I guess somebody could have "8 pounds of rotten meat in his gut" if he ate 8 pounds of meat a few days ago and hasn't had a bowel movement. But it's ridiculous to think it stays there for any significant length of time unless the person has a serious bowel obstruction. Do all meat eaters have to get enemas on a regular basis? I don't think so.
If PETA made that statement or not, I don't really know. But if they did, it sure sounds like an exaggeration to me.
I have been vegetarian since 1984, and I am into "animal rights" to certain extent but I have mixed feelings about PETA. Their tactics really put me off sometimes.
