Flexitarian vegetarians?!

Question: is any body out there that agrees with me.. being a vegetarian actually means not eating meat. once you eat meat ur called a MEAT EATER

eat meat=meat eater

vegetarian=no meat

does that make sence?

its kindof annoying to be in the same group as them.

for some reason i feal like they should be called meat eaters that sometimes refrain from eating meat, and then eat alot of vegtables..anybody catch my drift?

Flexitarian vegetarian is an oxymoron and not related to vegetarianism.

If you are seeing it on this site, its probably from our regular pet trolls that love to spread mis-information by calling themselves "flexi-vegans" etc.

Its all a bit daft.

If you eat meat, your diet is not related to the word vegetarian. That is quite simple to understand.

I think they like the word "flexitarian" because it sounds a bit like "vegetarian" and they claim some sort of association. If it were called "Itsybitsymeatyamount" or "flexist" they would not use the word.

People who eat less meat contribute to some of the benefits of being vegetarian - but it does not make them a vegetarian.

We might as well call everyone who is not eating meat RIGHT NOW a vegetarian.

Don't let them "annoy" you, the majority of the world knows the truth.

Adam T has drifted into the generalisations again, we are all stupid are we ? Thanks for sharing that fountain of knowledge and logic. I suggest you look through the other answers in this forum where 10's if not 100's of people claim to be "carnivores". If you think the few people here who misused the word labels us all as "stupid", you will be embarassed by the words of those who claim to eat a "normal" diet.

um the word is "non-vegetarian" ive heard practically every1 use it, meat eater reminds me of carnivores. (eat oNLy Meat) dinosaurs or something.

What a vege-nazi!
Who made you the queen of dietary nominclature?
If you want to re-label something, go re-label yourself.
How about 'Fleshiphobe' ?

Absolutely. Take that one step further and don't eat anything FROM the animal (eggs, dairy, etc) and then you'll be what I am, which is a VEGAN.

i totally agree.

i definatly agree with this. if you eat meat, even occasionally, even just fish, or just chicken, YOU ARE A CARNIVORE. that is not real vegetarianism and no, you may not claim it. kthnkx

I know what you mean. I'm glad I went the extra mile and became a flexitarian vegan.

it does not matter what their name is, the fact is that some vegetarians still eat bad stuff (individual things am talking about not as a whole, cause those who eat meat eat the same bad things too like garlic, soy and carrots. etc) lol lol ;)

Flexitarian? Pah! Doesnae exist. Purely for those who want to sound interesting, in IMHO.

KInda sounds like a particularly flowery description of a fashion designer's spring collection (directional, edgy yet...flexitarian).

lol i had to answer this..for an educated lot your all stupid...not one of you corrected her in saying people who eat meat and veg are omnivores...not meat eaters....and for the other comment who said carnivore...god how thick are you...you seem to love to point out simple flaws that us OMNIVORES make yet you seem quite happy making your own lol.

Yeah, a vegetarian is a vegetarian and a meat eater is a meat eater.

But there's nothing to stop people from making things up and declaring this or that.

Besides, what's wrong with a little comedy?

For example; I used to be in a reggae band (believe it or not). I used to hear people say "I love reggae, my favorite song is 'Don't Worry Be Happy' by Bobby McFerrin" and I would groan.

agreed. "flexitarian vegetarians" are not existant as far as i'm concerned. if you eat meat you can't be part of a group that does not eat meat. calling yourself something that does not eat meat and then eating meat just does not make sense. your just omnivores/meat eaters who don't eat all meat.

hey, i eat meat but i don't eat hedgehog am i a semi vegetarian?! um no. see your just a meat eater who doesnt' eat all meats.... your not a vegetarian AT ALL unless you do not eat meat.

I agree with you that people who eat meat when they feel like it, for whatever reasons, might best describe their diet as "mostly vegetarian".

That said, why are you letting this bother you?

I mean, all you need to say to them, if you must say something, is "Oh, so you are *mostly* vegetarian!" Honestly, don't you have better things to do with your time, like maybe check up on the latest vegetarian nutrition theories, seriously eyeball the ingredients lists on the products you buy and consider how you might eat in a healthier way, or find some new recipes for delicious vegetarian dishes?

What those people eat is, ultimately, their business, and what you eat is your priority. What they eat is not going to change the valid choice to be a vegan that you have made.
