To eat or not to eat?!
Answers: my dad is making a beef stew for dinner but i can't eat it! i have managed a week as a vegetarian (i know it ain't a lot) but i'm proud i can do it. if i don't eat this stew my parents will be angry and say to me go hungry then and they won't let me get and other food. should i go hungry or should i take the beef out of the stew and eat the rest (vegie and potatoes?) x thanks x
You can do a number of things:
1) tell your parents you want to try not eating meat. tell them how you feel. show them any research you have
2) ask them if they can make you something vegetarian. for free and easy recipes go to http://www.vegetariantimes.com
3) See if there is anything else to eat
4) if they do not makeyou anything vegetarian, - don not eat, and they'll soon start making you vegetarian foods.
Also, tell them that vegetarian food is cheaper and healthier!
good luck, if you need any more advice you can write to me!
Make yourself something else.... even if you take out the beef the juices will still be in the pot ... make yourself a single veggy meal

I'm a vegetarian, i suggest you dont eat any of the stew, all of it has touched the meat.
it's your decision on how strict you wanna be with yourself.
My advice to you is to make yourself your own vegetarian meal.
Best of luck!
Well....as long as you are depending on others to fix your meals you are going to have to eat what they fix.
iv been veg since december.
GO HUNGRY!!!!!
orr like wait til they go to bed and like go to the kitchen to get some other kine food!!!
STAY VEGETARIAN!!!!! you'll feel even more proud when you manage not to eat that tonight! think of the cows!!!!
=D
True vegetarians would not just eat out the veggies and potaos because it still had beef in it! Make yourself some pasta with some veggies and toss it with olive oil and garlic. Your parents will be less likly to be insulted if you make something and join them rather then just complaing.
Don't eat any of it it has beef juice in it, the veggies and potato have soaked it up. I know how hard it is I have tried several times to be a vegetarian so I know what you are going through. I am trying being a vegetarian again. But this time I am being much more strict with myself. I read ingrediants before I eat something, I eat everything but meat at supper unless it has been soaking in meat juice or anything like that. If the food has been soaking in meat juice I just make myself something else. Alls you need is some faith and trust yourself. Tell yourself you can do it. I don't even have craving for meat or anything. I find the sight of meat and the smell of me disgusting.
Sometimes as a vegetarian you get put in situations that just flat out suck like that. Remember you always have your power of choice :) You can "go hungary" like your dad suggested. You will not die and it may show him that this means more to you and you would sacrifice your own immediate comfort to demonstrate this. You can also just pick out the meat. Sometimes people are vegetarian overnight and sometimes people take baby steps and strides until they reach their ultimate goal. Do what works for you in this situation. If you are living under your parent's roof and their rules you may need to compromise until you have more independence. Maybe offer to make a vegetarian dinner for your family once a week your parent's may really appreciate the night off. I hope this helps you sort out your feelings. Best of Luck ;)
You'll have to talk to you parents honestly about your decision to become a vegetarian. Hopefully they'll understand and will try to support your decision.
But realistically, while you are still living at home you may have to be a bit more flexible in your menu selections. Once you're on your own it's totally up to you. Also, if you can arrange to prepare your own meals if your parents don't want to have to cook separate meals for everyone.
1) - Tell your parents that you don't like to eat meat now, and ask them for respect for your feelings, and make something vegetarian for you/everyone else.
2) - Hopefully, that worked, but if it didn't, tell them you particularly dislike the taste of meat and feel sickish after you eat it. Also, explain why else you are a vegetarian.
3) - If they still make u eat it, go hungry. You will be even more proud of yourself for sticking to your beliefs and thinking for yourself. Plus, your parents will realize how serious you are and feel sorry for making you suffer. They might even give in to your eating habits!
Good luck! The situation may feel akward now, but in time, everything will be ok if you stick to what you believe, no matter what it may be.
And last of all, I'm a vegetarian myself, and so is my family so it's a lot easier for me. Being vegetarian will make you feel better than you ever have felt before, and you won't be consuming all of the fat, cholesterol, etc. thats bad for you.
