Nonvegetarian bodies smell different??!

Question: PETA’s founder and president, Ingrid Newkirk, agrees that vegans smell fresher. “There’s science to prove it,” she says.

Now I’m not asking you guys to go out smelling and sniffing everyone, but have other vegans noticed any olfactory improvements? Do you think we are less smelly than say vegetarian, or omnivores?

Haven't noticed any difference one way or the other. personal hygiene seems to play a bigger role in personal odor. this may have nothing to do with diet per se but two Indian friends who are also vegans are quite noxious especially during hot weather.

I do find it difficult sometimes to be around people who pass gas a lot, something that vegetarians are notorious for doing. The air around them is often, shall we say, unpleasant. The same goes for heavy smokers.

I've heard that people who go on the low carb diet (and eat a TON of meat) are said to "taste bad" (when being kissed.) I would guess that would make them smell differently, too. If I smell any better for being a vegetarian, it's probably because I ingest more chlorophyll (which is known to reduce odor) than those with more in their diets.

I think thats a load of crap. Hygiene is the biggest factor.

People who don't eat greasy, fatty foods, will have a sweeter smelling sweat.

No, I don't notice any difference, either in my own smell or that of any vegans, vegetarians or meateaters.

It's personal hygiene that affects people's odour, rather than what they eat.

I worked with a vegetarian that smelled different but that is not surprising at all and also probably not noticeable on everyone. One of my daughters can't eat garlic because for days after wards, when she sweats, she smells like really strange garlic toast. personal smell has nothing to do with hygiene or whether you are vegetarian or not, it is how your body chemistry reacts. If all vegans smelled so great, think beans and cabbage!!

Don't think so I know so. My girlfriend could pick up on me eating meat in a couple of ways, but mostly based on my smell, and taste.

She could tell if I had eaten any red meat or milk products in particular.

But since I'm now an ovo-vegetarian unless there is absolutely nothing else to eat.

OMG i do smell better once i turned vgan (a little)
my brother does 2!
hmm that's cool

but did u know that veggies are generally smarter and meat eaters are generally more depressed? i think that is cool too!

: )

Everyone smells different. It's got to do with hygiene, not diet. Unless you just ate a bunch of garlic or something like that.

Ingrid Newkirk is an idiot anyways.

I know it's true. Since becoming a vegan, lots of guys comment on my 'scent'. My last long term relationship was with a meat-eater, I could tell the difference.

i agree! i have totaly noticed that!...you know the saying "you are what you eat"...well we vegans smell good because we eat good food. Meat-eaters smell like crap because they eat crap. its as simple as that.

this is based on one person's opinion? I don't think that's true, infact, have you ever smelled someone that eats tons of garlic? ewww
