Are pickles?!

Question: Are Pickles considered a serving of vegetables? Do they retain their nutrients during the pickling process?

Answers: Are Pickles considered a serving of vegetables? Do they retain their nutrients during the pickling process?

You could, I suppose.

The sodium is high - one cup of pickles contains 1/3 to 1/2 (depending on your gender, size, health, etc) of your day's sodium.

However, they also give you 1/20th of your day's calcium and vitamin A, 2 grams of fibre, and 1 gram of protein. You also get a little vitamin c and iron from them. Those are pretty high numbers for the calories in them - 17 calories/cup, and they are fat free. They lose some nutrients, though, like vitamin K.

They're vegetables, so you can count them as a serving, but try to stick with fresh veg without the added salt.

nope, the salt in them are sky high, the nutrients in cumumber once its a pickle is nil (none)

The nutrients in a pickle might be nil, but if they contain vinegar, then that cleans out your body, just like you can use it to clean your house (vinegar, not pickles) :)

So some are good for you, I buy dill all the time.

:)

maybe

I think they are but i am not sure

I don't know if it counts the same but they would be a serving of fruit, not vegetable.
