Can Vegans eat raman noodles?!

Question: It depends on the ingredients of the ramen noodles. Many prepackaged mixes have chicken fat, beef broth or even little freeze dried shrimp so just read ingredients. The noodles themselves, though, without any of the flavoring, are vegan. As to how they are prepared or what you add to the noodles is a different story.

Well, noodles are made with eggs. So if you're a strict vegan, you'd avoid that too.

But why would you want to eat that unhealthy crap anyways? Surely, there are better vegetarian options out there.

Top Ramen Oriental Flavor is vegetarian (includng the seasoning), and in general the noodles are not made with eggs, they are made with wheat flour, salt, water and kensui, a type of alkaline mineral water.

If you don't use the flavor packet, I dont see why not.

I haven't seen any that don't have animal derived ingredients in it. At least not where I live. I think you can try making your own though with vegan ingredients.

no unless you consider pork ok?

I agree with "me"s answer. Top Ramen Oriental Flavor are vegan, as far as I can tell. I usually keep a bunch on hand for those rare times when I don't have any energy to cook a healthful meal. It's super salty, super unhealthy and super yummy!

Always be sure to reread the ingredients each time you buy them, though, as they can and do change often. Boo to egg noodles!

Most ramen noodle packets have meat in their flavoring. And even if you don't eat them, the company isn't going to know that; they're just going to know another unit of whatever flavor sold, thus creating more demand for meat.

Dr. McDougall's makes vegan soup cups, a couple of which are ramen-style. You can also get vegan ramen at your local natural foods store, and it will be less likely to have preservatives and crap found in most conventional ramens.
