This seems pretty scary-
It might just be that you have a fast metabolism but it's probably because your body didn't like the diet change, and now it's not getting the things it used to get. Fake meat and tofu is high in missing nutrients, and see if it doesn't help!

there is no fat in plants and regardless of what people say you need fat to live but you can live a long time on tofu its a close sub for fat

eat beans... they have protein...

eggs, cheese, beans, nuts and some grains like quinoa and wheat are rather high in protein and are vegetarian. I'd say that you aren't eating enough. Milk - cow or even soy or almond are decent sources of protein.

You can't demand all that energy from your body without giving it energy to work.

Check out Diet for a Small Planet for some good protein rich meals that are vegetarian.

If you want more protein eat eggs, peanuts, peanut butter, soy product such as tofu, cottage cheese, beans, yogurt, milk...there's all kinds of stuff! Good luck!

Well first I have to ask you if you're eating enough. A lot of people tend to eat less when they are going into a new diet, because they don't know what they can and can't eat (or how to eat it). All of the sports you are participating in are also contributing to your weight loss. When you exercise a lot you lose a lot of weight, and if you aren't eating enough, you lose even more weight.

Try eating foods with protein like:
soy meats (really good, tastes like the actual thing)
nuts
beans
cheese (you'll be surprised to find out that cheese has a lot)
tofu!!! (My favorite)
whole wheat bread (usually about 6g of protein per slice)
and a lot of other foods, just check the labels.

It's really good that you work out, you're already living a healthy lifestyle, and I'm sure that applying this diet correctly will contribute even more to you health.

Eat enriched pasta, that has plenty of protien and other neutrients needed. Eat beans too for the iron. You will be fine. You yourself just proved that going meatless is a good diet for people who want to loose weight. Protien is over rated. There is plenty of protien in plant matter to sustain humans. Look at gorillas, they eat 99% veggies and are one of the most powerful animals in the animal kingdom and they get all the protien they need from plants. Eat pizza and stuff like that, cheese has alot of protien as do eggs. Don tlet your mom convince you that you have made a bad decision, you havent, you just need to modify your diet a bit more. Being veggie does not mean only eating vegetables...just not meat. You will be good, take a b6 & b12 vitamin if you feel your energy drain. Maybe that is your body just going back to the healthy weight for you. How tall are you?

Of course, as you know, you need a healthy and balanced vegetarian diet that includes adequate protein, fat, and carbs in addition to fruits and vegetables.

The best way to figure this out is to talk to your nutritionist at school if you have one, or otherwise check out some books on vegetarianism. I won't go into all the particulars of a veggie diet here because it's too complicated, and though people here on the internet can be knowledgeable, we are not experts. When I first went vegan I made an appointment to speak with a nutritionist and I'm very glad that I did.

That's all general. I can tell you, however, in your specific situation - a young man still growing a bit, who tends to a low weight and is very active physically - that it's ESPECIALLY important to get lots of protein and carbs. Eat lots of whole grains (brown rice, whole wheat bread/pasta, oatmeal, quinoa - there are many more!) and lots of beans and nuts (including nut butters like peanut butter and sunflower seed butter). Also get some soy in your diet (through soymilk, tofu, or other soy products - try tempeh!). Dairy and eggs are also excellent sources of protein.

You might want to try just plain eating more, in order to gain weight and and maintain your active lifestyle. Snack on nuts and seeds, trailmix, etc. And more carbs - they've been demonized lately, but an active young man like yourself shouldn't worry about that.

Good luck!

i think you should eat more of soy meat, it has a lot of protein in it and it taste great! People who eat/ate meat before and tasted it said it tastes just like meat. Being a vegetarian is only PART of the reason why you are loosing so much weight, your daily exercising is causing you to lose weight. I think it's your choose if you want to eat more, I suggest you only eat if you are hungry (but if you want to gain weight eat as much as you want!)

I hope i helped you

In addition to the other answers I'd recommend adding seeds to your diet as they're high in fat. Try toasting them with salt or soy sauce!

No one can say while you're dropping weight with this little info on what you actually ARE eating.

Don't buy into the protein hype. America eats way too much protein. And "Diet for a Small Planet" is an ok book EXCEPT for the fact that it advocates a high protein diet which has been scientifically proven wrong for us.

Your body can only absorb so much protein. We don't store protein. What we don't use goes, literally, right down the toilet. But if you are concerned look into "seitan" - it's a wheat meat. Twice the protein of steak and half the calories.

Now, it sounds like you are very active. So I'd say it's not WHAT you're eating but HOW MUCH. I am very active and I eat constantly.

Vegetarian food need to have lot of variety.

Make sure your food has all the nutation's.

check this website. for vegetables and its nutrition's

Not necessarily.

I found that I couldn't be strictly vegan. I am an ovo-lacto vegetarian, so that I still have milk products and eggs but nothing else. I figure if bread is still on the menu, eggs and milk would be too.

In the way of protien, I have egg-whites and will also have black-beans, which have an amount of protien in them.

I recommend you avoid soy products until there is more evidence and the industry becomes a little more forthright in and with respect to the effects of phyto-estrogens in soy.

Otherwise, with all the exercise, you are definitely doing alot of aerobic exercise but it doesn't sound like you're doing much in the way of strength training, and too much aerobic exercise vs. strength training can lead to a over-lean appearance.

What you REALLY want to do is check with a nutritionist if your school has one, or see if you can go to the local gym and ask if they have a nutritionist you can speak with for a few minutes.

eat peanuts/cashews/other nuts for protein, i know its high in calories and fat, but i guess you dont need to worriue about that stuff...you are really lucky btw...i run a few miles every day and i am vegan. i have been doing this for about 6 months and i have only lost a pound! i would rather have your problem. lol
