Pagan/Heathen ethical vegetarians/vegans, represent! Which path/group are you, & how is your vegness recieved?!
Christians seem to have the hardest time understanding it. They say things like "the bible says animals don't have souls" and "god put animals here for us to eat"
Most of my friends accept or admire it. A few of them are either vegans or vegetarians themselves, and the meat eating ones usually respect it and think I have lots of commitment or something. I have one friend who completely disagrees with it and likes to shove pig carcass in my face and laugh. He is a conservative Christian and was raised to believe animals are for eating.
My mom is a pagan and is very supportive of my veganism. She is now a very limited meat eater and believes that animals should be treated really highly and nicely if we except to take things like meat, milk and eggs from them.
Answers: I'm vegan and agnostic.

Ok, I am a Roman Catholic vegetarian (lacto-ovo) and normally people are pretty accepting of my vegetarianism. but my guy friends are a little less understanding. I am able to eat whatever I want when out. (Like a salad or sandwich). The only problem is at houses where the hostess doesn't plan for vegetarians.
I'm a vegetarian. My whole family thinks I am weird and are always trying to get me to eat meat. I don't though. It grosses me out, and it makes me sad. I am a HUGE animal lover.
Vegan/Atheist/Humanist
Atheist.
Nah, I get most of my ignorance (as you can read here on Y!A) from self-proclaimed christians who try to use religion as an argument.
most people respect my choice, but my family thinks im weird. i don't care though im not eating a carcass...
life time vegetarian. Raised as a Hindu. Stopped being a hindu, became a vegan instead! -
I believe in God, I just don't want to the middleman (religion), to keep on lying to me!
I am married to a man raised as a Christian. His mom told him that, because I was not a Christain I would go to hell! Yet she sits there mucnhing on innocent animals!
His family think that animals do not have a soul! - erm,,, sometimes I wonder if they have a soul!
I have the hardest time with Hindus, that say they are hindu, but eat fish and chicken! an animal is a animal!
The stupidest thing is when at Xmas, and thanks giving they all ask for world peace and love, and then start eating a dead bird! Its like if you want peace, maybe you should give peace and love! And not eat the innocent animal!
I'm vegan, naturalist (not nudist ha)
I guess the religion that appeals to me most is paganism, the earth is sacred.
My vegeness (good one) is received well. I've been vegan for about a year and I don't talk about it unless people are interested. I'm not into aggressive conversations, so I just keep it to myself unless I need to.
My husband decided to go vegan with me after a couple weeks, I am so lucky. We were both vegetarian....and I didn't think that he would ever give up eggs and cheese, but when he did, I was pretty happy and gave him a foot massage :)
vegan
atheist
I've never meat anyone that had a problem with me being vegan.
Some people just don't understand how one can be satisfied on such a diet.
