Do you think like this?!

Question: When I see people eating animals. Example: hamburger, I think about the cow that once lived.

I wonder what that cow did, or how much sunlight it got, or if it gave birth, I wonder how long the cow was able to be with the baby, I wonder if the cow had any room to move aroundI always wonder if the animal was a girl or boy?

Most of all I wonder if the cow felt really scared when they took it to kill it?

Do other people think about this?

Yes, I think like that all the time.
I think a lot of people just dont think of what they are eating when the eat it. I am sure 4, 5, 6 and 7 year olds just dont know. And I am sure many kids would be horrified to think that they are eating the calf/piglet/chick that once used to be. People should look at these facts and think about it. http://goveg.com/feat/chewonthis/chewshe... and http://www.goveg.com
PS: Thanks for this post!!!!!!

Probably not.

So you don't think about all of the people in the world who are starving or anything like that, huh? You just wonder if the cow had a fulfilling life?

Yes, I know that more people could be fed if we didn't indulge in eating meat. I also know that we wouldn't be wreaking such havoc on the environment. But apparently, that's not what you think about. You think about the poor cow, and you wonder if the poor cow had a good life.

I really never thought like that, but I will be more conscious next time I eat chicken or fish. Who knows this just might stop me from eating animals altogether. Thanks for the visuals.

No, I don't think like that, though I know that some people do. Most of my life I have lived in parts of the world where meat is a very important part of the diet - I lived many years in the far north where access to southern food such as fruits, vegetables, even grain products, can be very limited for much of the year. In the north people have great respect for the animals they use for food, and thank the spirit of the animal for giving its life for them. I do agree that our southern society could have much more respect for the animals we raise for food.

i really thought people would be nicer on here. boy was i wrong. i can't believe a couple of the previous posts.

anyway, i do actually think like you. thats one of the main reasons i really want to become a vegetarian.

edit:
seriously, this is a really good post.

My nephew had the same idea and wouldn't eat anything but ham. Go Figger! What is the difference between a pig and a cow? Anyway, if that animal was in the wild, it could be killed and eaten by a lion, or tiger. The animal intellect doesn't worry about "quality of life" or even if they exist as an individual.
The native American attitude from what I've been told, was to give thanks for the life of the animal and use as much of it as possible. If you waste it, that's being disrespectful.

I think about all the field animals who are slaughtered by the combines and harvesters..ever seen those!!?????
They are huge farm equipment that spares NOTHING in its wake...
NOTHING escapes!!

The veggie fields are filled with death...
I think about the poor mice, rats that are intentionally poisoned around the grain storage elevators.
Ever see what rat poison does?
They die a prolonged excruciatingly painful death ...it takes several days..
I think about whether they might be pregnant at the time of their deaths...
At least for cows, pigs, death comes quickly.

I read about an organic rice farmer who described the harvest as a "GREEN rain" because of all the frogs that get mutilated at harvest time...NOW that sounds compassionate, eh?

all of us have blood on our hands...sigh
EVERY single vegan and vegetarian contribute DAILY to animal deaths for their diets...(they keep their scorecards in their back pockets) but if they claim they are ethical...how can ~~~any~~~ ANIMAL DEATHS be justified???
IS THEIR blood a different color?
Is their pain any less than the cow or the pig's???

It's all about being a hypocrite...yes, indeed...
hypocrite: : a person who puts on a ~~~false~~~ appearance of virtue or religion

To be honest your best isn't good enough..
BEST would be to GROW YOUR OWN FOOD, so you don't contribute to killing animals...like you do now

Stomping your feet doesn't change the facts..doesn't KEEP even ONE MORE animal from escaping death.....

LOL at common sense...!!
You see it's really reduced to the NUMBER of deaths, NOT THE FACT that the field animals die for her diet....everyday, every minute..in brutal, and painful ways...

Yes, I am exactly the same... people above shouldn't be so critical of you. When I hear about a (human) death on the news, I also wonder the same about it - especially in violent cases. I try to wonder who they were.
I don't think you restrict it to just animals either - it's just that every time you look at a burger, you're pretty much quaranteed it lived a horrible life and died afraid, or confused... It's straight out of a horror story.

What I think about is how fortunate I am to be on a flexatarian diet where I can enjoy hamburgers from time to time without having to look over at vegan saps like you with tears running down your face. I know it may be hard but grow up, thousands of people died today and all you can think about some dumb cow that couldn't remembered that it just crapped five minutes ago. Sheesh.

edit- don't argue with her when she is off her meds. There is a reason why she is on her second acct.

I am saving the ozone, cow flatulence is a large contributer to greenhouse gases. Save the ozone, have a steak.

I don't meddle in other peoples affairs unless asked. So why would I bother to look what's on other people's plates much less reflect on what's it all about? I pay attention to the things being said at the table, to the people with whom I am having a meal. Food is just food after all. I spend anywhere from 3 -18 hours a day with work matters. I am quite busy with market strategies, reading stock positions and reports, checking on fiscal/financial position, dealing with clients, make and answer emails etc etc.In between, I (or at least try to) make time to prepare meals for my kids and help them with their schoolwork. I neither have the time nor the interest to dwell on things that do not involve me. Abut the only time I see people eat burgers is when the kids ask me to make them ( I don't normally allow them to eat fast food). That's family time and I would be a selfish stupid insensitive jerk if I ruin what is essentially a happy family moment with my own obscure emotional thoughts of cows and pigs. If my daughters or son says "Dad, this is good", should I answer with " son, that's a rotting flesh of a dead animal you're are eating"?I would if you would tell your own child when you finally have one " Hey that fruit your eating? I think the fruit picker who was only 12 years old was probably raped and or beaten up after she picked tha. Happy cruelty eating!!".

I am a vegetarian and and cringe at the sight of people eating meant and I do think like this
