Yay!!!!!

unprocessed bear lard(just kidding)

Earth balance is good but if you do not have it on hand, I always use vegetable oil or even better, canola oil.

I use Earth Balance non-hydrogenated vegan spread for all my buttery needs, including baking.

trubonde: You'd be surprised if you bothered to try it. I grew up on real butter and was always an anti-margarine person (it tasted oily and gross to me.) My mom turned me on to Earth Balance even before I gave up dairy; I was skeptical but it even passes the toast test. Don't knock it 'til you try it, and certainly don't assume that vegans don't know what we're "missing'! The vast majority of us were omnivores at one time.

Earth balance sounds really popular.... I haven't seen that brand in Australia. I use Naytura Soy Margarine Spread.

I agree-- EARTH BALANCE!

Earth Balance is my favorite. Another good one is Smart Balance 37% Light Buttery Spread. (The other Smart Balance butters are not vegan, so make sure to get that one.) Happy baking!

Butter or lard

sorry to burst your bubble, but there is nothing like butter, nothing... you are really missing out
