Is a Vegan lifestyle a costly one?!
By age 6, I turned Vegan, but a year later I caught diseases due to poor diet because of a severe lack of money to purchase alternative nutrients as opposed to animals, forcing me to go back to the so called 'wonderful meat' that has many other talents of which the majority fail to see.
But, at thirteen, I am fit and healthy and think that I have let enough animals suffer - even though I do not wear the hides of these beings.
So, I was curious if a vegan diet is still something only the well off can adapt to? I have a financial lack due to a one - parent family, as my father earns less than 20k a year.
Thanks, and keep the faith alive!

It can be, depending on the products you buy. Organic foods cost more, so just buy regular instead of organic. I buy some things organic, but not everything because it does cost too much. Also, the expensive things are the "substitutes" for meat and dairy (except soy milk). The fake "meats" and "cheeses" are expensive. You certainly do not need to eat these substitutes to be healthy. Whole grains are the best and are cheap too. Also fruits and vegetables (buy when on sale and/or in season). For example, beans and rice are cheap, easy to make, and very nutritious! Compare that to a steak (price and health) and there is a big difference. Even the soymilks are cheap now because you can buy generic brands. If you haven't noticed, the dairy milks have gone up in price. Check out the websites below:
I don't think it should be too much but ask a nutritionist for more info.
No. But it is an unhealthy life style.
It really depends on ther stores you go to. A vegan lifestyle, i believe it's to unhealthy if your careful about the foods you eat, this should also apply to what your buying. Depending on availability in your area. Before you make up your mind, try looking at a couple nutrietions books or so, go to the local markets and see discuss it with your family.
I'm not really sure, maybe its not costly but u do have to thnk of taking the right amount of nutrients (to avoid being malnourished) .... let say protein--- meat is the easiest way to get this but for a vegan u probably have a different alternative ..... u probably knw this already i assume. But good luck!
Yes I believe it is more costly to be vegetarian, Quorn and Linda Mc Cartney products are very expensive, so unless you live on champ and vegetables it can be very expensive,
Rice, beans, corn, wheat shouldn't be too expensive.
Actual fruit and vegetables can be more expensive than processed junk, but you should be eating them anyway.
I think things are easier if you accept eggs and dairy.
do u want to be a rabbit for the rest of your life
I personally think a vegan lifestyle is a harsh lifestyle. I haven't got the discipline to follow such a regime, plus I doubt I could give up all the tasty foods required to be a vegan
