What do I say back?!

Question: Everytime I am offered meat, I turn it out because I am a vegetarian. When I tell them that I am a vegetarian, they say, "eew, why?" or "you NEED meat!" For some reason, this really bothers me. What do you think I should say back whenever someone says this? I'm tired of all the vegetarian bashing that I get on a daily basis...

I am totally with you! That's exactly what people say to me. (i'm a vegetarian too)

Here are my tips:

1.Don't say "no thanks" you shouldn't thank someone for pressuring you to eat meat let alone anything else.

2. Don't be rude and too mean. value other's opinions because you would want them to respect you.

3. If they ask why, tell them exactly why and express yourself. It will make sense for them.

4. Telling people how you feel is one of the best things you can do. Tell the person who hurts you "it bothers me that you don't except me for who I am and my beliefs."
BE PROUD TO BE A VEGETARIAN!!!

5. Don't get too upset about it. That'll probably make you depressed and no one wants that.

Well, I hope all this helps and I'm glad that I now know a person who's the same as me!!!

and P.S: Tell them that beans and rice are perfectly healthy for you too!!!!!!!!!!

I THINK YOU HAVE TO KNOW WHY YOU FEEL SO STRONGLY ABOUT YOUR CAUSE,BEFORE YOU CAN ANSWER ANY ONES QUESTION..
DO IT CAUSE YOU WANT TO DO IT AND KNOW WHY..
THEN IT SHOULD NOT BOTHER YOU WHEN SOME ONE ASKS WHY YOU DO WHAT YOU DO..

When they tell you "eww" tell them eww back and then tell them the meat that they are eating once had a face and then to the comment to "you need meat" tell them you can get get you iron and all the other nutrients from vitamins. Also, tell them they are rude ro judging and criticizing your choice in life.

Ask them if they would react that way if you said you were gay. It's called tolerance.

Just say, "thanks, but no thanks!" Treat them with kindness and they'll get over it. Its your lifestyle, not theirs. Just make sure that you're still getting the nutrients that you need.

Asking them questions also helps. Sometimes it shows them that they're being a little ignorant. Don't be judgmental, but one I tend to use is, "Why do you think that?" and, if they say something silly like, "My mom told me!" or "I read a study!", point out that there are millions of Sikh, Hindu and 7th day Adventist veggies, that have been for centuries.

Either that, or you can just laugh it off and tell them you'll call them first when you're on your deathbed from lack of meat.

I say, "Why do you enjoy eating bloody, fatty, flesh? You know you're eating the whole package, right? Think of all the stuff that's in that cow leg. Why don't you eat me, too? And yourself? I'm sure that'll be just delicious!"
I also explain that tofu and beans and vegetables provide plenty of nutrients and plenty of protein for me.
I only respond in such ways if they have it coming and are all "Meat is the only way to go" and insult me about my choices, and throw meat at me at lunch (two times it's happened!)
I also think milking cows is kinda molesting the cows (if you think about it), so I'll tell more ppl that too :)
just don't take anyone's crap and tell them you don't like supporting the slaughter of poor, innicent creatures
