Whats you opinion on vegetarians and vegans?!
Answers: The only reason i ask is becuase some people put their health in danger by nt getting all the vitamins, proteins etc that they need yet they still wont eat meat etc. What do you think of it ?
I think people do it for the "fashion points" more than anything else nowadays, not caring about how they're caring for their body in the process.
I think its all right as long as they know what there doing. You can get your proteins from other things like peanuts and vegetarian meat. :-)
I think if you do your research it can be a great thing. If you're a convenience food kind of person, then it probably isn't for you. Vegans who eat those crap fake meat products all the time really aren't getting the health benefits from being vegan; those products are no better than processed non-vegan foods. I despise people doing it as a disguise for an eating disorder. I think many vegans don't eat enough food, either. And vegetarians who eat way too many dairy products aren't benefitting their health either. And, yes, I'm vegan. Going on 6 years now.
Most people get way too much protein anyways, especially Americans. With the availability of fortified and enriched foods, it's almost impossible to not get enough of any nutrient, unless you're surviving solely off junk food. A vegetarian/vegan diet is healthier than an omnivorous diet: we live six to ten years longer and our risks for heart disease, high blood pressure, obesity, and even some forms of cancer are reduced. Even if a vegetarian/vegan diet wasn't healthy, as Gandhi said, "To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being. I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body."
Each to his own
who cares? there is entirely too much time energy and space wasted on this site worrying about what other people eat. I can eat rocks and sticks if I am so inclined and so can anyone else. It is a volatile subject with no correct answer so please quite stirring the pot!
I don't think they don't get vitamins and proteins or put their health in danger. I also think that probably they don't have some real problems.
We vegetarians are not in danger. As long as we eat enough food products that supply us with the amount of protein and vitamins we need, we're fine and very healthy. I've been a vegetarian for 11 years now (since I was 6), and I've rarely had any health problems. I eat lots of soy products like soy meat, tofu, etc. I'm Latina so basically beans are a food staple for me, which also gives me loads of protein. My diet also includes hummus as well...which is delicious with pita bread. :D
Some people just assume that it's the end of the world if someone decides to stop eating meat. It's most definitely not.
That's ridiculous. People put their health in danger by consuming overly processed foods like American cheese, things full of chemicals like soda, and meat filled with antibiotics, hormones and pesticides.
And most Americans DO consume far too much protein, which is the number one cause of osteoporosis.

We rock! :oD
Im a Vegetarian...Im Even somewhat scared to be a Meat eater again...O.o
Jen D is right.
It is much, much worse to eat McDoanld's and Twinkies than to stop eating meat.
As long as you do your research it is actually healthier to go veg. According to a study by the International Vegetarian Union: "A recent analysis of data from the Adventist Health Study predicted life expectancy in Seventh-day Adventists following different behaviour patterns. The researchers found that a combination of different lifestyle choices could influence life expectancy by as much as 10 years. Among the lifestyle choices investigated, a vegetarian diet was estimated to confer an extra 1? to 2 years of life.".
Plus, we have good karma :]
Actually, it is people that eat an animal foods that are putting their health at risk, not vegetarians.

It is virtually impossible to have a protein deficiency if you are eating a diet that consists of a variety of unrefined plant products. To study protein deficiency in a laboratory, you have to concoct a special "elemental diet" that consists largely of cornstarch and refined fats. What worries me are the people who eat the standard American diet, which causes obesity, heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc. There is absolutely no need whatsoever to eat any animal products. You can get vitamin B12 from bacterial cultures. All other nutrients are found in the proper proportions in a well planned vegan diet.
protein can be obtained from non-animal products as well.. why don't you go do more research first.. you have nothing to support..
The American Dietetic Association (one of the nation's leading nutrition experts) states that vegetarian diets are "...healthful, nutritionally adequate and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases....Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer."
There are many vegetarian foods that are high protein. These include: almonds, black beans, cashews, fake meats, garbanzo beans (chickpeas), kidney beans, lentils, peanut butter, pinto beans, seitan, soybeans, soymilk, sunflower seeds, textured vegetable protein (TVP), and tofu.
I say it's more MEAT for me.
I've never met a cow or pig that didn't taste good.
they can do what ever they want..im very healthy eating meat..why would i change that at all. i know where my meat comes from im well educated and will continue to eat meat..they can eat all te veggies and fruits they want..i know what im doing is right so why change sumthing right???
meat eaters rule!!!
wow 10 stupid vegetarians...lol bet if i replaced meat with veggies the 10 votes wud be thumbs up lol shows how stupid you are lol
I admire the ones who are doing it not because it's a trend, but because they're doing it to save animals. And we don't need meat for protein, nor do we need veggies for protein. This argument can go both sides. But both diets are healthy if eaten correctly. A small amount of meat with more veggies is just as healthy as a diet without any animal byproducts. It's what I try to get through here, but people constantly keep slaping vegetarian sites in your face. What they fail to realize is yeah, of course they're going to say that! It's called publicity and advertisment! How ignorant some people can be.
Vegangrr-Not all Americans get too much protein. You generalize and assume that just because someone eats meat, they eat too much of it. Frankly, I'm tired of that generalization as it is proving to show the ignorance of many people who switch to an herbivore lifestyle. If we weren't meant to eat meat, our stomachs wouldn't tolerate it, we wouldn't absorb its nutrients, and it would rot in our intestines, which it does not.
I could NOT go with out meat! I love steak and chicken!
