What are the pros and cons abour being vegetarian?!
Answers: I want to become vegetarian, but first I need to know the pros and cons.
PROS:
You will feel better healthier since meat is high in fat and is packed with chemicals and hormones that they pump the animals with before they are killed-Less that 1% of vegetarians and vegans are overweight
You will feel good about yourself, since you will no longer be a part of the pain and death of so many animals
You will be opened up to a variety of new foods that you may not have thought to try before
You will be helping the environment, since factory farms contaminate water and air, and huge amounts of resources are used on raising animals for slaughter
CONS:
You may have a hard time for the first month or so finding alternatives to meat for taste and health reasons. However, it shouldn't take you long to realize how many options are available to you. Tofu as well as soy meat substitutes (that taste like meat but contain none) are better for you that actual meat and are still packed with protein.
There aren't any others. Being a vegetarian is a great choice for you, the animals, and the planet. Just make sure to get enough protein and you'll be fine! Feel free to message me with any questions-good luck!
pros. u won't get sick from the diseses animals carry (mad cow saminila) u eat healthier and thinner
cons. you miss a food group and don't get enough protein
but the new food pyramid says nuts (or was it beans?) count as a meat
well the bad thing is no meat!!! My twin was a vegetarian for a few years, but she got sick and had to start eating meat again. But usually it's not a bad thing. She had an eating disorder. Sorry I don't know much about it. Why don't you want meat?
You can be a healthy vegetarian if you know how to eat well as a vegetarian, or you can be an unhealthy one if you do not know how to eat healthy as a vegetarian.
Pros- you will be healthier. You will not be eating dead flesh. You will be making a significant contribution to helping the environment (the meat industry causes more carbon emissions than all transportation in the world). You will look better.
Cons- if you like meat, you will miss it
you can get all the proper nutrition being vegetarian, if you eat the right foods. There is no Meat food group. Beans, grains, nuts, and many vegetables are very high in protein, and everythign you need.
Pros: Too many to list
Cons: Everyone else's ignorant comments & harassment.
cons- if you don't eat right you'll be unhealthy, but this is true of eating meat too. eating meat does not automatically make you healthy. also it is harder to just go to restaurants and out to eat, you need to plan ahead and be more considerate of food choices.
pros- eat properly and you'll be much much healthier! your risk of many diseases goes down, more energy, less sickness, lower cholesterol, etc. it really is better for you. you'll know that you are not contributing to the pain and suffering of those that can and do feel pain and suffer all so you can have a burger or whatever. it will open your eyes to new foods and you'll be much more aware and in charge of what goes in your body.
don't listen to people who say you won't get enough protein. i'm so sick of hearing it! it's so dumb! they need to research how much protein a person actually needs. you don't need as much as you think and it's very easy to get. you won't be anemic either, as long as you eat a variety of fruits and veggies, proteins and grains you'll be healthy. obviously you can't just eat pizza and fries. but then you shouldn't just eat burgers either.
i like the soy imitation meats, i've also started making a lot more of my own foods with beans and tofu. try veggies in a variety of ways until you find ways that you like it.
good luck, almost 15 years now and i love it!
