Pondering thought?!
Answers: Okay, I understand being vegan and vegetarian..which I am trying to do my self. But, I saw a question that ask YA if they eat foods that taste like meat? I thought espcially if you are vegan and you believe in animal rights, and the avoidence of cruelty to animals, why would you eat something that tastes similiar to the real thing? Would that be like defeating the whole purpose? Just confused!
hahah thats the question i just posted lol
ya i thought since it 'tastes' like animals they refuse to eat why eat that too...?
i think so cause if you eat that kind of food that tastes like meant than you could stop being a vegetarian you know what i mean
since you just became it its good to eat it as long as its not real meat i mean the point of being a vegen is not to eat meat
It doesn't defeat the purpose of being veg. Look, in my case, I liked the taste of meat but I don't eat it now and I never will simple as that.
Just because you like something doesn't mean you act upon it.
There's very little cruelty behind a veggie burger or vegan pepperoni or soy jerky. So I say be proud, you can have somewhat the same flavors and not be giving money to the meat business.
That's the way I look at it too, but I've accepted that my view on faux animal bits is in a minority here. However, it doesn't make me want to rush out and buy any.
It wouldn't be like defeating the whole purpose, because for me at least it's the cruelty that I'm against (also vegetarians are healthier and meat is responsible for tons of pollution. BUT--I personally won't 'cuz the way I see it is that why flavor something to be like a dead body when there's better-tasting things??
You can like the taste of meat and still be concerned about animals. I've been an animal-rights vegan for a year and a half and I love soy cheese, tofu jerky and mock fish. I gag when I'm near real fish being cooked, and could never go back to eating meat or dairy, but sometimes it's nice to remember the taste.
There are different kinds of veg*ns with different tastes. There's nothing wrong with the occasional tofu hot dog, as long as you can stay healthy and happy.
None of the ingredients suffered in the manufacturing of the product. That's the whole point.
BTW, none of the products actually taste like meat so your question is kinda moot.
