I've heard that some vegetation's eat fish. Is this true?!

Question: And if it is, then why? Don't they realize fish is also a type of meat?

Answers: And if it is, then why? Don't they realize fish is also a type of meat?

no, it is not true.

There are people that CALL themselves vegetarians and eat fish. thats different to BEING a vegetarian.

Retricting your meat intake to fish alone is a great step for some people, good luck to them. Its just not vegetarian.

Many fish-is-my-only-meat eaters call themselves pescatarians.

See my profile for the full details on this fishy topic.

In the light of all the major organisations in the world saying vegetarians do not eat fish, a few people making that mistake is not going to influence or change the truth.

vegetation? you mean like trees and flowers eating fish? I suppose in a way they do because fish meal is used as a garden fertilizer.

Also there is all those plants that eat bugs. Soreally there are lots of plants that eat meat in some form.

It's all just molecules.

Vegetarianism is the practice of a diet that excludes all animal flesh, including poultry, game, fish, shellfish or crustacea, and slaughter by-products.[1] The reasons for choosing vegetarianism may be related to morality, religion, culture, ethics, aesthetics, environment, society, economy, politics, taste, or health.

There are several variants of the diet, some of which also exclude eggs and/or some products produced from animal labor such as dairy products and honey. Veganism, for example, excludes all animal products from diet. By some strict definitions, animal products are not used for attire either, whether or not the production of clothing or items has directly involved the actual death of an animal (dairy, eggs, honey, wool, silk, down feathers, etc.) [2] A generic term for both vegetarianism and veganism, as well as for similar diets, is "Plant-based diets".[3]

Properly planned vegetarian diets have been found to satisfy the nutritional needs for all stages of life, and large-scale studies have shown vegetarianism to increase longevity, improve health, and significantly lower risks of cancer and other diseases.[4][5]

No, it is not true that vegetarians eat fish. Vegetarians don't eat animals, period.

It IS true that some people *call* themselves vegetarians and eat fish, but they are mistaken about the definition. If they want to label their diet, they should be calling themselves pescetarian. I don't know why they do it, but it's really troublesome to those of us who get offered fish on a regular basis by well-meaning people who have met a bunch of "vegetarians" who eat it.

no it's not true

There are people who eat fish that CALL themselves vegetarian, but that doen't make them vegetarians, anymore than calling myself a "Tall striking blonde" will make it true, when in reality, I'm short , brown hair and eyes..

These people (who call themselves vegetarian while eating fish) are misguided and spreading misinformation

vegetarians eat no meat.. Despite what the Catholic church says.. fish IS meat, it is the flesh of a dead animal..

Vegetarians eat nothing that caused the death of an animal.. period..

I am a vegetarian, yet I eat fish. You all think that just because I am FORCED to eat fish, it doesn't make me a vegetarian. IT DOES. I am a pesca-vegetarian/pescatarian, and proud. When I am older (in, like, a year) I will become a vegan, so stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

to me I dont see the big deal of what people call themselves. eat what you like and just have fun doing it. to be all " there not vegitarian because they eat fish." is someone being a one word meaning that I will let you all thing about in your head. I eat what is offered to me at peoples house and dont fret about it if its something that I normally wouldnt eat. So just enjoy life!

Well, some people are vegetarian for health reasons (namely, almost all of my friends). They eat fish because it's "good for you", and they don't eat other types of meat because they're "bad for you". Usually, these people are veggie for moral reasons of some sort, but they aren't willing to make the commitment. I think that it's a little flakey myself, especially when they call themselves vegetarian, but I appreciate any effort people are willing to make.

Yes. Vegetarians don't eat meat for health reasons. Fish is healthy. Vegans however don't eat meat for the sake of not killing animals. They are very strict about using animal products.
