Well, check out McDonalds website. They list "natural beef flavor" as an ingredient in their french fries. I would think that would convince them!

http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller....

They are fried in BEEF grease.....can't be vegetarian.

They're fried in vegetable oil, have been for a looooooooong time.

An enclyopedia isn't going to have that information. Show them the ingredient list for McDonalds

French Fries:
Potatoes, vegetable oil (partially hydrogenated soybean oil,

natural beef flavor (wheat and milk derivatives)*,

citric acid (preservative), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain color), dimethylpolysiloxane (antifoaming agent)), salt. Prepared in vegetable oil ((may contain one of the following: Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil, hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated soybean oil, partially hydrogenated corn oil with TBHQ and citric acid added to preserve freshness), dimethylpolysiloxane added as an antifoaming agent). *CONTAINS: WHEAT AND MILK (Natural beef flavor contains hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk as starting ingredients.)

Here's the ingredient info straight from their website:

French Fries:
Potatoes, vegetable oil (partially hydrogenated soybean oil, natural beef flavor (wheat and milk derivatives)*, citric acid (preservative), dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate (maintain color), dimethylpolysiloxane (antifoaming agent)), salt. Depends where you live. In Canada the ingredients are

French Fries: Potatoes, a blend of partially hydrogenated fat and oil (beef fat and cottonseed oil), may contain
dextrose, sodium acid pyrophosphate and cooked in 100% vegetable oil (Canola oil, corn oil, soybean oil,
hydrogenated soybean oil with THBQ, citric acid and dimethypolysiloxane).

Not vegetarian obviously. Maybe in some other country.

In Australia McDonald's use canola oil to make fries. It's not so much about the ingredients, I still choose not to buy them because it is still funding a company who's *primary* product is meat. They are responsible for countless animal deaths and they are a massive global chain. That's why I don't buy from them any more.
