What is so wrong with eating meat?!
Answers: like really guys. it's not that bad...
NOT A DARN TOOTIN' THING!!!
If we weren't supposed to eat meat, why are there Tofu Pups, TofuTurkey, Veggie Burgers and Vegan Cold Cuts?
Even the Vegans have "meat" in the form of soybean curd.
Eat Meat! It's whats for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and good for you!
Hey Kyle....I DO know where my source comes from as I am also a hunter. I shoot, kill, gut, skin and butcher my own deer/moose/rabbit/squirrel/quail/pheasan...
Not all meat eaters are as disconnected as you would like to think. When you plant your own veggie garden and harvest your own food.....then you can maybe preach.
Bookworm, so all those crops that are grown around the world magically show up on your plate? What about the machines used to till, sow, water, reap, sort, clean, package and then ship to your local health food store, they don't contribute to "global warming? Talk about being dissociated about where your food comes from. Sheesh
LUNA! Meat is "made" the same way you were!! And how do you know the cows are miserable? Have you ever asked one?
When you get up enough strength and energy to kill a cow, clean out it's guts, spray out it's brains, and let it bleed out completely, let me know. I don't have a problem with some people eating meat as long as they are aware of what the animal went through and where it came from.
Almost everyone is so disconnected with their food they don't even realize how many environmental resources it takes to keep the billions of food animals or what those creatures endure throughout their short dissolute lives.
Adam T...I have told you before that I was glad you bought meat responsibly. You are one in a million in that respect so none of my comments have anything to do with you. For my foods, I buy mostly from the Farmer's Market so w/e Adam
Other than the environmental devastation, the wastefulness in a world with limited resources, the damage to your own health, and the cruelty to animals?
It depends on what you view as "wrong".
Some people, like myself, are allergic to the hormones put into the meat to make it grow quicker. I have tumors and they get larger thanks to the extra hormone.
It costs way too much money to buy meat without the hormones, so I opt to eat vegetarian.
Some people do not agree with killing the animals...whether they've seen the poor conditions that some are killed in or believe in the Bible (where it says the fruit of the land will sustain you all).
Some may simply not like the taste of it like others hate the taste of onion.
Nothing if you are in a part of the world (i.e. Arctic) in which there is little to no choice and the animal was killed in as respectful and ethical way possible.
I believe one of the fundamental laws of nature is to take no more than you need. If you do not need to kill than don't. It's that simple.
Most people however are totally and completely disconnected from the source of their foods. They do not realize the intense suffering most animals had to go through before being sanitized and wrapped oh so pretty and bought at their local grocery store.
There is also an environmental dilemma in which the raising of meat is vastly less efficient and cost the environment more resources than growing strictly vegetable matter. The ratio of efficiency of growing plants vs. animals can be almost 10 to 1.
I think there is something wrong with the question...I think if the question was "what is wrong with eating dead animal" you would think about it more but seeing as the majority of meat eaters are completely disconnected from where their food comes from they don't seem to make the association between "meat" and the fact that it used to be a live animal.
As much as I am not keen on anybody eating meat, I have much more respect for those who know where it comes from because they raise it and slaughter it themselves. At least then they can have an appreciation of what they are eating and not disconnect the fact that what is on their plate used to walk around.
you should actually research how the meat is made... tha'ts whats wrong with it. sorry i don't need a hamburger that comes from a cow that's been tortured and in pain and suffered its whole short miserable life. have you ever been hurt before? well, their pain is exactly the same. and who am i to want to inflict that on anyone that can feel that pain just for convenience or because i don't want to be "different"? i'd rather just eat foods that are not meat and no i did not contribute to torture.
you guys always come on here and post this SAME question. why do you care if we do not eat meat. how is that even effecting you? i dont understand why we must be asked this, but here is my answer: it is animal flesh and grosses me out. im sure there are foods you wont eat because they are gross to you.
Nothing if it is consumed in small doses. A flexitarian veg diet has been proven to be the healthiest diet on the plant and mor eand more people are deciding to become one. You get the benefits of a veg diet without the painful social stigma that comes with being a vegan.
Frankly, I don't know what is wrong with eating meat. I do know that what slaughterhouses do is wrong, but the fact remaining is, there are more important issues in the world than to worry about whether or not you're eating a cow that is sexually abused. I'm a vegetarian because I want to do something to help animals, even if it's small, but at the same time, I don't think there's anything wrong for those who do eat meat. It's their choice, and if they're happy with it, then so am I. I don't see why someone else's choice should bother me as I have made my own personal choice and I am happy with that choice. People give such ridiculous answers to these questions like; Oh, it's so cruel! Grow up! There are worse things in the world! We need to concentrate on the animals who may not even have a future such as tigers. Farm animals will always be around! Quit griping and grow up!
I'm with you...I always thought PETA stood for "People Eating Tasty Animals"...seems I was wrong!
despite what other people think, eating meat is not wrong.
