Vegetarian 30 days?!

Question: I'm going to try to be a vegetarian for thirty days starting tomorrow! But I want to know before I do it is that is it good or bad? I'm not doing this for weight loss i'm doing it for my heath and the sake of the horrible, violent slaughter of animals. Should I do it?

yuppers. just please be healthy about it... don't eat pizza every night cuz its veggie :) be prepared to put more thought into your food, and plan ahead when you go out to eat or over someones house.

go out and buy some different veggie burgers and soy meat products, get some beans, a variety of veggies and fruits and start experimenting with what you like! good snacks are apples and peanut butter and veggies with hummus. google for some recipes and ideas of things you can eat. i like the "fake meats" because you can take a lot of your "regular" meals and jsut sub the soy stuff in!

if you really want too.

i am an indian and i do not ever eat meat.

I have never eaten meat in my life because it is against my religion.

Vegetarian is a good thing and nothing will happen to you if u stop eating meat for 30 days.

Go for it. =)

if you are not doing it for weight loss that's good because it does nothing. it's not good for you. eating meat is better because it has protein that you need. but you can still do it if you want to. just keep in mind that it is not any better for you.

if you're going to do it then at least do it from now on, not just a month. it kinda doesn't make sense. but be sure to eat protein enriched foods/vitamins since you'll be lacking it from meat.

It may not be good for your health, and FDA regulations don't allow "horrible, violent slaughter" of animals.

In the natural world, most animals die more horrible, and violently than they do on farms.

Only you should decide if you want to be vegetarian, but be sure you are making an informed decision.

Yes, do it.

I'm thinking of doing it too.

It's completely healthy. It WON'T make you anemic, or turn you green or anything like that and vegetarians do get enough protein, since they eat so much soy (which has more protein than meat).

As long as you get a well balanced vegetarian diet you will be fine.

If you do decide to go vegetarian for 30 days, I'd suggest making sure you get enough protein in beans, tofu, milk (if you consider this ok for vegetarian), etc. and not starving yourself. Maybe get the support of a vegetarian who knows what type of vegetarian foods are good to eat and will satisfy your hunger.

I tried eating vegetarian once, but only lasted a week because I could not find enough substitutes for what I usually eat and was getting hungry all the time.

Good luck,

Give it a try, if you like it stay with it. Just make sure that you get enough protein, vitamins, and minerals. Beans, whole grains, beets, ect. If you chose to eat eggs and cheese, these are both good sources of protein. Fish is also a healthy way to get what you need. You should always consult your doctor if you have any concerns, or experience any problems. On a second note, if you have concerns about animals then you would do well to avoid any leather products, since animals are killed for them.

Sure, give it a go! Be sure to eat a healthy, varied well balanced diet of fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds, berries, pasta, rice, cereal, tofu, soy, tempeh, seitan and whole grains. I'll give you a few websites to look at that will help. Try not to over indulge in frozen faux meat and other prepared foods, but they are good for when you crave meat and help make the transition from meat eater to vegetarian. You could check out cookbooks at the library.
There are some foods that have animal by products in them that you need to steer clear of like jello, marshmallows, some refried beans contain lard. It's a good idea to read the labels carefully. Vrg has a complete list.

If your family pressures you to eat meat just show them that you can eat responsibly and get the nutrition you need, that information will be on the vrg site.

just do your thing and if your family says something just say, i have my own ways of life just like you do yours, and dont try to change me and same to you

put if you dont succeed after the 30 days dont eat steak for the first thing start with turkey and chicken then onto the stronger meats or it wll make you sicjk

Vegetarianism isnt a trial thing, you should make a decision because you feel sorry for the animal cruelty situation an for health reasons. This is where you have to be strong an make a stand. Its really easy to be a vegetarian, I eat lots of veggies an fruits an trail mix, I'm healthier than anyone i know. Good luck, and read plenty of info on rawfood.

Going vegetarian is one of the best ways to protect your health and reduce animal suffering on factory farms and slaughterhouses. I've been vegetarian for over 10 years and enjoy excellent health.

It really helps to buy some fake meats and use them in your favorite meals and recipes. Here's a list:

Nothing will happen if you stop eating meat for 30 days. You might start craving meat, but that's about it. As for people eating meat in front of you. A part of being vegetarian is that people around you will eat meat. You have to ignore it. A real vegetarian would not think twice about eating meat if a person around them is eating meat.

not eating meat is a good start. Exersizing is another easy way to lose fat. Go for it!
