How do you make a Vegan Pizza???!

Question: Thank you!

Answers: Thank you!

Pizza dough is usually vegan. It contains water, yeast, flour and salt, and sometimes some olive oil. You can buy balls of pizza dough or make your own at home. Many store made pizza crusts, like Boboli, contain cheese and aren't vegan.

Once you've got your crust, you can put anything you want on it! If you're looking for a traditional pizza, a vegan tomato sauce and some vegan gourmet mozzarella would be a good start. Yves makes some zippy veggie-pepperoni if that's your thing. I personally like my pizzas with tomato sauce, kalamata olives, eggplant, spinach, mushrooms and fresh tomatoes. With all that on there, you won't miss the cheese!

i have not tried this, but would be willing to do so

it is the same as regular pizza. make your dough and choose different toppings. veggies and vegan cheese. i like broccoli tomatoes and onions on mine.

I make my pizzas with tortilla instead of pizza dough (it's less stuffing, and tortilla comes in a variety of ancient grains too, like spelt, flax, ... so it's good for you).

Then for topping, I'd put tomato sauce, mushrooms, bell peppers (and what veggies you like), topped with Italian herbs and extra virgin olive oil.

I dont make vegan pizza, but Amys brand does and its awesome!!!

Here are some links to recipes..sometimes people use nutritional yeast for a cheese substitute, sometimes they use vegan cheez...

Vegetarian/Vegan Pizza (No Cheese)

1? hours
1? hours prep
8 slices

This is from my dad, who developed some vegan recipes after my sister became a vegan. This doesn't have any cheese, and you don't miss it.

Ingredients
Crust
1(1/4ounce)package active dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 cup warm water(110-120 deg. F)
2 1/2 cups white flour

Pizza Toppings
1 ounce fresh basil
4 tablespoons olive oil
3 garlic cloves, crushed
3 tablespoons ketchup
2 tablespoons pine nuts
1 tablespoon lemon juice
3 Italian plum tomatoes, sliced
2 cups mushrooms, thick sliced
1 medium onion, cut in half and sliced

Directions
1 Mix water, yeast and sugar and let stand 10 minutes to start bubbling.
2 Add flour to yeast mix and blend well.
3 Place in a greased or oiled bowl, and cover with a warm damp cloth.
4 Allow to rise in a warm place until double in bulk, around 1 hour.
5 Punch down dough and pat out onto an oiled (or cornmeal dusted) pizza pan to form the crust.
6 Bake in a preheated 450° F oven for 7 minutes. Crust may be refrigerated or frozen at this point. If using right away, turn oven down to 350°F.
7 Place olive oil, basil, garlic, ketchup, pine nuts, and lemon juice in blender and process until smooth.
8 Spread mixture onto baked pizza crust evenly.
9 Add tomatoes, mushrooms and onions (or whatever you like, really) and bake at 350° for 10 minutes.

I make mine with LOTS of sauce, italian herbs, veggie, yummy black olive minus the cheese of course =)

Regular crust, pizza sauce, mushrooms, bell peppers, jalapenos, & onions and topped with shredded "Rice Slices."

I have a personal recipe I made myself... i hope you enjoy
-I use large flour SOFT tort. rounds or you can use ready made pizza crust (its better on carbs but they have ready made if you like a hearty crust)
-Slice tomatosonto rounds and layer the bottom (for the pizza sauce)
-put a layer of Vegan Cheese
-then put sliced veggies (your choice)
- another layer of vegan cheese
-put it oven until cheese is golden

and thats it... enjoy

*I used the ready made crust or tort. rounds because regular dough will not work as well with the tomatos taking the place of the sauce and it will cook uneven.
