That's a pescetarian, not a vegetarian. There are different reasons for why. For some it's religious, for others it's a need for protein, and there are other reasons I don't even know.

It is not OK to eat fish - it is still a living being.

It's not. The name for someone who eats no other animal other than fish is a pescetarian.

Vegetarians don't eat fish. Poseurs may eat fish and call themselves vegetarians, but they aren't vegetarians.

its NOT ok. fish are animals. vegetarians DONT eat them. some wannabe vegetarians do, but they arent true ones.

vegetarian=people that refrain from eating ALL meat and animals.

non vegetarian=people who eat fish, beef, chicked pork etc etc.

if vegetarians ate fish, then vegetarians who ate beef would still be vegetarians.

not okay to eat any living or dead creature. It's all animal flesh being consumed, which causes many diseases among other things. Stick to fruit, veggies and grains.

To each his own I do not have a problem with anyone regardless have what they do or don't eat. But people everything we eat is a life-form. It all lives, thrives, grows, and, reproduces.

Yes, many of the world's vegetarians eat fish.

Vegetarians do not eat fish. but I just realized why people think they do. The Catholic Church.

Every year, during Lent, Catholics "gave up meat for Lent", but continued to eat fish.

It's okay to eat fish. Just don't call yourself a vegetarian if you do. In addition to the Catholic Church, the Jewish laws of Kashrut don't allow eating fish with other types of meat. In fact, fish can be served with dairy foods. So religious laws have added to the confusion.

According to the rules, vegetarian has NO food made from something that had a mother. That would include fish, although there are many "fish-etarians" out there who staunchly maintain that they are vegetarians even as they chow down on sushi.

Sure, it's fine to eat fish. Japanese are vegetarians and they eat lots of fish. Some vegetarians are pollo-vegetarians...i.e. they eat poultry.

Flexitarian vegetarians can eat fish, poultry, seafood and on very rare occasions when it would create a problem to refuse, do eat "red" meat.

Strict vegetarians eat no meat of any kind.

eating fish for vegetarians it outright infidelity.
fish is an animal, therefore its flesh is meat.
