I want/need to start eating more veggies.?!

Question: I want/need to start eating more veggies, but i hate the taste and texture of many fruits & vegtables. I do realize that vitamins dont totally compensate for the real thing. So, does anybody have any advice on how I can introduce fruits&veggies to my diet.

thx

You can have them cooked--stir-fried, steamed, grilled, in soup, on pizza--or mixed with something else (dumplings, soup, lasagna, smoothies, veggie burgers.) And if there are any you DO like (except potatoes and corn, which have no nutritional value. Some argue that corn is a grain, anyway), remember to have them.

Make the smoothies on your own; stores and smoothie places put so many sugars and additives they do far less good than bad.

Don't over-cook! No deep-frying, and as little boiling as you can handle. Some of the nutrients go away if they're overboiled, and I don't think I need to explain the health issues with frying.

Are you vegetarian or?...

Stir frys are good

Putting veges on home made pizzas

Adding more veges to your salads

Get Vege burger patties

Make soup, use your liquidiser. Sieve vegetables to make a vegetable puree with your dinners. Chop the vegetables up very small in a casserole. I did all these things to get my children to eat fruit and vegetables - it worked.

Smoothies/juices are a great way to get vitamin C and other essential nutrients into the body.

No, I'm veggie, don't eat me!! Just joking lol

Just eat more fruit and vegetables. Simple! :D

try juicing, or buy those pre cut celery and carrots in the produce section. they also have sectioned broccoli and cauliflower.

if you eat meat, at all, you can but a lot of veggies in with meat and make burgers or meatloaf (dice peppers, carrots, onions, scallions etc) and salt and pepper.

or you can make veggie pizza...with garlic and butter...and a whole bunch of different veggies.

you can also eat raw veggies (which are the very best for you as they have all the nutrients which can get cooked out with heating) a lot easier if you eat them with a lot of french onion dip! it's kindof simple, but french onion (or any kind of) dip is pretty low in cals, fat and sodium, and it make the veggies taste like chips!!

the best way to eat veggies (i think) is on the grill. buy a basket for the grill, marinate some zucchini, onions, peppers, tomato and esparigus, and then cook it on the grill --delish!!
friuts are easy cause you can make a lot of smooties or deserts and you will rarely have to taste the texture at all. or you can mix berries or banannas with yogurt or cereal.

just try to work them in slowly...you'll find some things you like, and you'll be able to start making variations to keep eathing more.

i'm not sure how much cooking you do but i'd suggest looking at recipes and deciding what you like the look of and then trying to cook the meals. stir fries are definitely a great idea. it's important to understand how different types of vegetables cook - you need to bring out the flavours and get the right textures. e.g. when you cook something with carrots and courgette, you should cook the carrot first until almost done and then add the courgette towards the end -otherwise you will end up with a mushy courgette or an undercooked carrot. also a lot of vegetables (esp. root vegetables) taste nicer when you cook them in oil until they brown a little before boiling them (e.g.in a soup). if you want to try aubergines they're better when you grill them first with a little olive oil... i think following recipes is best for learning how to make the most of your veggies :)

Cover them in a delicious sauce!

Sauces doesn't always have to be loaded with calories and fat. If you re wise in your selection you won't have a problem.
