Can I make a veggie drink in a blender instead of a juicer?!

Question: or I am losing the nutrients? I am looking for recipes to make veggie drinks but I find that most require a juicer. Why cant I just use a blender? Looking to do a detox for a week or so and don't know if thier is a specific reason for a juicer rather than a blender.

Oh and recipes would be great!

Thanks!

You won’t lose nutrients.

However, the whole point of juicing is to retain the nutrients and remove the fibre.

Solid fruits & vegetables (because of the fibre) require hours of digestion before their nourishment is finally available to the cells and tissues of the body.

Juices without fibre, are very quickly (within 15 mins) digested and assimilated into the body and so can get to immediate work replenishing and healing our cells.

Fibres in solid foods and blends have virtually no nourishing value, but they are very beneficial for-you-know-what.......

The following book is excellent. It only cost me $5.00 – best $5.00 I have ever spent:

“Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices – what’s missing in your body” by Norman.W.Walker D.Sc.

I brought a VitalMax Oscar 900 juicer for AUS $500 (you can get them A LOT cheaper in the USA) I use it at least three times a day, everyday. It is the best $500 I have ever spent.

Other books I highly recommend are:

“Juice Fasting Bible: Discover the Power of an All-Juice Diet to Restore Good Health, Lose Weight and Increase Vitality” By Sandra Cabot

“Green for Life” by Victoria Boutenko

To achieve a well balanced overall effect, you should consume both juices and blends BUT they are certainly different and should be treated as such.

Contrary to what the first poster says….. ......every study I have read has shown huge benefits to detox “diets” when juicing.

I have done several vegetable juice fasts and they have all been hugely beneficial to my health and well-being.

Juicer: Carrot, Ginger & Orange Juice

Juicer: Beetroot, Carrot, Kale, Cabbage, Celery, Broccoli & Apple Juice

Blender: Banana, Spinach, Ginger & Water

Blender: Blueberries, Banana, Orange & Water

.

The blender doesn't liquify the veggies enough. It only works for fruit. A juicer takes away a lot of the fiber, but otherwise works fine.

Studies have shown that there is no benefit to detox diets. However, if you don't ordinarily eat veggies and fruit, at least you are getting some extra vitamins.

You can use a blender, they would just turn out to be veggie smoothies instead of veggie juices. You won't lose any nutrients by blending.

One combo I LOVE is carrot /mango.

Yes, a blender works just as well as a juicer.

Actually you are likely to lose more nutrients in a juicer than because most of the beneficial nutrients are in the peel or skin which a juicer generally discards. The blender drink though would be pulpy and lumpy but that's not necessarily a bad thing since you need both the nutrients AND the fiber for detoxing

Yes a blender is fine. Juicers are just the best.

blender is fine! -

Blenders work just fine like all your other recipients said.
Recipies:
Tomatoe & carrot
Mango & carrot
Strawberry & cucumber & iceburg lettuice

You can but a lot of the nutrients are in the leavening of the fruit and vegetables. Juicers purees more thoroughly leaving less.

In Detoxing you want very little "fiber" in your system so it clears itself out. Hence Juice VS a Smoothie.. Juice is quickly absorbed into your body, little to no real digestion action needed.
By using a cheese cloth over a seive (or a nut bag) you can extract the juice from the blended veggies.
You can get a simple inexpensive Juicer at most kitchen stores, Walmart, Target etc. When I 1st started that is what I used, now I have a Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. Still lower end cost but works well.
#Do not mix Fruit & Veggies in Juicing except apples can go with Veggies.
Veggie Juices are Healers
Fruit Juices are Cleansers

Luck on your Detox.

Basic Carrot Juice
4 Carrots & 1 Apple ~ Feed through Juicer & strain through a seive
If using Blender add water then blend & strain through cheese cloth & seive.
Basic Carrot Juice is a good place to start no overly strong flavors. If the juice is too strong for you thin with water. I found when I 1st. started juicing is made my head spin it was just too powerful for my body to accept.

My current fav juice is ( not a beginner juice is bold flavored)
GARDEN SURPRISE JUICE
This past month, Rhonda (Hallelujah Acres) demonstrated the following juice recipe, and it was DELICIOUS! (Should serve 2)
4 carrots (medium size)
1 cup fresh spinach
1 red bell pepper (quartered and seeded)
2 celery ribs (cut in 2” pieces)
Wash and prepare all vegetables, process through juicer, strain, ENJOY!
*ORGANIC INGREDIENTS ARE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED.
For a more liquid add a nice seedless Cucumber! Yummy. Another variation a small Beet, or Romaine lettuce.

Slainté (to your health)
