Weird? What to do???!

Question: On PETA's website they said that the company UNliever (which owns Dove, Suave, Sunsilk, and Axe) animal tests, but when i wrote them they said that they were against it, and they don't test finished products on animals.

What does this mean exactly? I try not to use animal tested products, but I don't know if I should use this brand or not

when a company doesn't test its finished products on animals, that means that they've tested everything that is in the product before it goes to market. example: they don't squirt a monkey down with axe, but all the fragrances, etc. that go into axe are tested on the monkey. fyi.

by saying they "don't use finished products on animals" they just mean that the end product isn't tested. but along the way while it's being developed it is.
basically whenever a company says they dont test the "finished product" they do test along the way b4 it's finished

the key word is FINISHED.. all they really have to do is add one more drop of perfume into the shampoo or whatever and say "finished product not tested on animals".. you really need to think about it.. they do sell very great shampoos and other HBC items at health food stores.. if it bothers you that much maybe you should do that.. but i hate to say it but PETA is right..

their reply to you said "finished product" which means simply that. they won't go into detail and tell you that whatever used to make up the "finished product" WAS tested on animals. because of the way it was worded i wouldn't use the product i believe bath and body works and the body shop is completly against animal tesing in any form so that is what products i use as well as many of my animal loving friends and family.

Exactly what Bootycat said!

And stay away from Procter & Gamble Products, they make everthing from Pringles to Shampoo to Toilet paper.

Most little company products do not test on animals. Check for the bunny on the back. Burts Bees doesnt test, but they do use bee products so they arent vegan. There is this great brand of soap products that come in a raindrop shaped bottle, but I totally just forgot what the name is.

The following links are lists of companies that do and do not....

HOPE THESE HELP :)

That means once again PETA is lying. If the company says they are not using animal testing .. believe it.

PETA kills animals for no good reason.

Basically, that the product you're buying was not tested on animals, but the ingredients may have been. Or the company itself may not have done the testing, but may have paid another company to do it, which is problematic. OR they may use products that prior animal tests have shown are safe but don't contract out or conduct any testing.

You might want to write back to Unilever and ask them whether or not they test the individual ingredients and see what they say.

they test the individual ingredients, they just don't test teh final product that you are buying. interesting though. i didn't know they did. thanks.
