What is PETA?!

Question: People Eating Tasty Animals???

Answers: People Eating Tasty Animals???

This is a group of people who obviously feel it is their right to tell everyone else how to live their lives. They will argue with you till the cows come home... I have often wondered if they truly understand the amount of pain and suffering that would be encountered by animals if they let them all run free and this would include the doggies and kitties that are kept in entrapment in some of these same folks homes. Wild hogs rooting up their back yards; cattle shamelessly defecating in the streets. All of these free animals would now go unvaccinated, be forced to find enough food to survive and die from attacks of other animals eating them for their food. Releasing the animals from farms as they advocate to enjoy the green grass and chase butterflies is a fancy fairy tale that realistically only lives in their minds as they have no idea of what it takes to run a farm and to actually care for animals and livestock.

People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals...here is the website...

PETA does stand for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. People for the Eating of Tasty Animals was a parody site which angered the PETA people to no end.

PETA was founded in 1980 by Alex Pacheo and Ingrid Newkirk (in my opinion Ingrid is off her rocker.) Their slogan is "Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment." They are strongly opposed to factory farming and animal testing of any kind and frequently produce videos showing the horrors of both.

They also promote a strict vegan diet and award carrot and stick awards based on their interpretation of a person's animal friendliness. (They have even awarded a stick to Prince Charles!)

Many (including other animal rights organizations) say that PETA goes way too far in their activities. They feature celebrities in their ad campaigns including the "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" series. Celebrities featured in their ads include Pamela Anderson, Christie Turlington, Alicia Silverstone, Kim Basinger and Ronald Regan's daughter Patti Davis.

For more information I would suggest their website or their Wikipedia entry, but view with caution as it is very graphic.
