I am vegetarian, and I am considering splurging for the first time in a year?!

Question: But I feel really guilty for even thinking of it.
My family and doctors say I am not healthy, and I don't even know why I feel like just having a burger.

Does this make me look bad, being a vegetarian and all?

No the rest of us think you are having a pang of normalcy.
Have a nice seafood one.

Usually, when I think I want a burger, what I really want are the toppings. Have a veggie burger.

omg i totally have cravings...especially considering that im from the south, but what i do is eat"veggie burgers/tofurkey" i fell so bad eating it, but at least i dont have the cravings after...

what makes you look bad is not listening to your doctors when they say that you aren't happy (i am assuming it is because of your eating habits). Your craving for protein rich foods is normal if you are probably lacking them. if you have a moral dillema with eating a real burger, grill a boca burger and fix it up right! or look at different recipes to make a tasty tofu burger. you really need to take your heath in consideration because, in the end, it is all we have as individuals!

It doesn't make you look bad, just human. Give a grilled portobello "burger" a shot before you go for the meat.

you need to work on your diet.. eat lots of vegetables particularly leafy green ones, fruits, beans, tofu, and drink soy milk or calcium-enriched orange juice. it is perfectly possible to be healthy, research vegetarian diets online. if you are eating healthy, there should be no reason to "splurge." i wouldn't call it "splurging" as that implies that meat is a luxury, which it is not. eating a burger won't make you healthy, it's not an elixir.
it sounds like you went vegetarian for the wrong reasons if you can't maintain a proper diet and are concerned about what other people will think of you

there are many options in a vegetarian diet, and if you were eating properly, you probably wouldn't be craving meat

OMG! Look, it's Samminilla!

--------------------------

It's 100% normal to crave something that you were raised on.

If your family raised you on monkey brains, you would crave that food as well. It doesn't mean that you are weak or that your body is telling you that it needs it.

Are you a vegitarian to be healthy or because you don't want to kill animals?

You need to change your diet somehow though. Weather it is through eating the right combination of plants to get complete protiens or eating meat or eggs which have complete proteins.

i so understand!
im 16 & want to be a vegetarian because i have researched the way animals are treated bad & how now a day a lot of the meats arent even healthy. eventually evolve to a vegan because i believe its a process
but...
my parents & family think otherwise.

they come from a customs were u eat meat with every meal & they said i had to eat meat for my health, & although i showed them many articles about how vegetarians are actually healthier they still disagreed.

i was a vegetarian for about 2 months & i just had to stop for my own sake because everyday was a fight, & i support my beliefs 100% but i think it ill be better once i move out to college& am able to financially support my life style.

its not bad to have cravings, but just try to find something to fill the craving. i use to eat a lot of rice & beans!
& try to surround yourself with a vegetarian for support, thats why im on this,

Honestly? Yes, it does make you look bad.

If vegetarianism and health are important to you, why are you giving in to people (who propbably haven't got a clue how to support a healthy vegetarian) and not trying to see a registered dietitian? Why not learn how to become a healthy vegetarian?

If you're not satisfied in your vegetarian diet, then try something new! There are dozens of varieties of meatless burgers to try and it's east to make them yourself. Go to the library and get some cookbooks, or google "vegetarian burger" and get yourself some new recipes.
