Vegans & veggers how do you feel about preparing meat?!
How do you feel about handling or preparing meat?
Does it bother you too?
Why?
Answers: Some times I have to help my mum cook dinner. I usually don’t touch the meat but help out around the kitchen. It makes me feel a bit squeamish looking at it (especially raw).

Hate it. I'd rather not ever do it.
I'm a nurse, I've seen LOTS of disgusting stuff, and I have pretty much no gag reflex anymore. But the smell of cooking meat just makes me want to hurl.
my one friend didn't ever eat meat. she hated to handle it at all. but she worked at a subway shop so had to, in time she did get a desk job.
I am not a vegan or vegetarian, but I GAG when touching raw meat. It smells, it's slimy, it's bloody, and it's just so "dead". It also bothers me because, although I eat meat, I don't like to think of it as "flesh" and the raw meat is nothing BUT flesh. And did I mention it stinks?
From an ethical point of view, it really doesn't bother me that much. Being a vegetarian is a personal choice for personal reasons and I have no desire to impose my principles on others. I will try to avoid it if I can but if not, then it's just another one of those unpleasant things that people get to do from time to time despite their personal objections.
As for the squeamishness, not really. I've really seen much much worse. And I am not going to eat it anyway. And you know what? Even some meat eaters cannot stand the sight and smell much more the handling of raw meat so there is nothing to be ashamed or embarrassed about if you get squeamish.
I cant stand being around meat! Even the smell of it makes me sick to my stomach! I would probly vomit if i had to prepare a meal with meat in it!
I have frnd who's been a vegan since birth...but she has no problems helping me prepare meat/chicken/fish dishes...she handles 'em just fine....
Don't feel bad, when I have my omnivore friends over I still offer meat. I don't like to handle it if I can help it, but you do what you gotta do.
Hiya,
Good question. I couldn't handle meat at my old job in a hotel (working in the kitchen). I hate the way it looks often, all bloody and I just cannot be holding it!
scottie :-)
I don't prepare meat because I just don't want to. And the smell makes me sick a lot of times.
helping someone out in the kitchen is great and if they know you believes them you should be able to do other chores not involving the prep of the meat course
i will not handle or prepare meat. not only cos i loathe the sight and smell of it, but cos if i DID prepare meat i'd probably kill somebody.
i've never eaten it, never cooked it and don't know how to cook it!
I won't do it, I don't even like to be in the same room with it.
I would no sooner let someone bring roadkill in my house than I would let them bring in some grocery store packaged "sanitized" version of dead animals into my house.
Sorry you still live with omnivores. It's rough. I hate that part of the holidays, it's hard for me to enjoy my vegan meal that I bring for myself when the stench of death is all around me.
