Does meat cause weight gain?!
I've gained weight like crazy in the past month.
Is meat to blame for my fatness? my close friends tell me that the meat might be making me gain weight. They tell me that the cholestrol is damageing my body.
My friends DO eat meat but they don't get fat. Why do I.
I eat chicken (most days) and pork (some dayss)
Should I stop eating meat?! I feel really depressed about myself when I look at how big am gettin

Try a healthy vegetarian diet for 6 months. I bet you $100. You'll lose the weight! - but you have to eat healthy vegetarian foods. - beans, grains, seasonal vegetables, fruits.

Weight gain comes when you eat more calories than you use. It doesn't matter whether those calories come from meat, grains, or Twinkies. If you consume more than you burn, you'll gain weight.
If you've started gaining weight but your diet and activity level haven't changed, you may have a glandular issue going on. Check with your doctor.
Meat itself is healthy for the proteins. Weight gain would come into play depending on how the meat was cooked. For instance breaded and fried is not as good as unbreaded and sauteed/roasted. Another reason might be that you are eating too fast. Slow down - it takes 20 minutes for your brain too realize that your stomache is full. Add some veggies to your diet - it helps break down the bad stuff. Just remember "Anything to excess is bad for you."
Cholesterol is one thing. weight gain is another... get proper facts from your Dr. on dealing cholesterol... as to weight gain... if you take in more fuel than you burn you will gain weight... it is that simple.... unless there is the rare medical component... and that is why you should always have a medical check when dieting.... but basically... burn it off... take in less than you are burning and you will lose weight... no need for any "diet" except a reasonable intake of "normal "food... exercise, exercise, exercise... and for the most part there is no need for a pro gym program... just a good walk that gets the body to burning the fuel... and some basic routines to tone the muscles... and sticking to it... no need to give your money to a fad diet program... get the proper information from you Dr. and a nutritionist he recommends and go on with your life.
According to what I've read and heard from news and other published sources....
The previous reply has validity. Your sudden weight gain may due to a change or changes within your body.
Of course eating pork does not help at all.
If your body's metabolis has slowed down then you will need to stop eating foods that are saturated with bad fat and bad cholestorol.
I'm a strict vegetarian and it is impossible for me go gain weight.
My mother is also a vegetarian (although she is more liberal with her dairy products) and she has to work hard to keep her weight in check.
However, if she ate animals, I'm sure she would not be able to control her weight as well.
You can do yourself good but cutting out one of the two.
I'd recommend cutting out all pork. Do your research and you'll find out how terrible it is for your health.
If you continue to eat chicken, eat the home prepared stuff. No fast-food chicken! It's disastrous to your health.
Also, to help lose weight:
Fruits Fruits Fruits!
Vegetables Vegetables Vegetables!
Exercise Exercise Exercise!
And don't stress.......relax.
Weight depends on diet, exercise, genes, etc. On average, vegetarians are 10 to 20 pounds lighter than meat-eaters. Meat is high in saturated fat, calories, and cholesterol. Since animal flesh is designed to store calories, it's one of the worst things that a dieter can eat.
Maybe you could try going vegetarian for a month or two and see if you notice any changes in your weight? Check out http://www.vegcooking.com/makingthetrans... for lots of info, food ideas, and transition tips. Good luck!
Cut out the meat, sweetheart.
Calories cause weight gain. If you're gaining weight you're consuming more calories than you're burning. Eat less. Exercise more. If that doesn't solve the problem, have your thyroid checked - maybe your metabolism is depressed.
If you eat too much of anything you will gain weight. Eating meat is healthy because it helps you get the nutrients you need, but if you dont eat to much you can find a healthy balance.
You get a lot of fat vegetarians and vegans, so it can't be just the meat thats making you put on weight.
Eating too much of anything can cause you to gain weight. Even if you cut off the fat from meat, you can still gain wait the meat has more calories. Let's say you have five tomatoes that are fifty calories and a small piece of meat that is fifty calories, it doesn't matter which one you eat because you're consuming the same amount of calories. All I can say is just do with what you're comfortable with doing. You should see a doctor about it. That doctor might be able to give you suggestions. Asking people on here might not be your answer because I doubt any of us answerers have a PhD in this.
