How to stay being a vegetarian?!

Question: That was my new year's resolution. I want to keep it off for more than a few days or a week so how can I do that? I want to stay a vegetarian but I always find myself eating a bit of meat here and there.

It can be simple if you don't think about earlier and later.
Don't even begin to think about meat until you are literally looking through the fridge for something to eat. And at that point, just say no. You'll be proud of yourself after denying it enough, and once you've gone meat free for a few days, then aim for a week. You'll be achieving your goals with ease soon and you'll become strong enough to turn down meat at any special event, party or BBQ.
And remember there's plenty of fake meat/meat substitutes out there to help satisfy cravings. I'd suggest MorningStar veggie chicken nuggets/patties, corndogs, steak and chicken strips, etc.
Try a veggie chicken pattie on a toasted bun with mustard or whatever else you like with lettuece, melted cheese and tomato.
Different methods of cooking things can make all the difference in the world. So don't give up on something if it doesn't taste good the first time.

Eat your beans...dont eat meat

Since I became a vegetarian I feel so much better and have so much more energy. If you leave the meat out of your diet you will feel better too then that can be your motivation.

Hola see im a vegetarian to you can start eating boca burgers and Morning Star if you have a Whole Foods grocery store around your area of where you live go to that grocery store or the main grocery stores. Good Luck! and stay a vegetarian don't eat the little poor chickens and pigs! And live a longer life!

eat peanut butter for protein
its good for you. :D

Morning Star is a good brand for substitute meat and they taste exactly like regular meat

While being a vegetarian can benifit your health, it can also hurt you.
I have been vegetarian for a while now, and the muscle in my body is breaking down from lack of protein. If I were you I would try some of the fake meat products or get some protein shakes.
Good Luck!

Your taste buds have been preverted from years of meat eating. To keep from eating meat eat plenty of avocados(high in natural healthy fats that will keep you satisfied) and almond butter(high in natural fats too as well and extremely nutritious and high in natural proteins) and trust me you will forget meat. When you eat avocados with nice wheat bread and onions that will leave you addicted.

Go to a farm and meet the cows.

I did. I felt I was in the presence of higher beings.

And no, I'm not Hindu.

I was struggling too for a while. Then I realized that I wasn't having a balanced diet. Eating too much breads was also making me hungry -- not sure why. I would eat meat if I didn't plan ahead for my meals, and grabbing something like a burger through the drive-thru was always easier. Then, I went out with my boyfriend and had shrimp and pasta Alfredo. And I couldn't eat it anymore because I took a bite of shrimp and felt the little body crunch under my teeth and I realized I was eating another animal that used to be alive, breathing and living just like us. I haven't had a bite of meat since then.

I always carry a bag of almonds with me, and I take a very good multi-vitamin mineral supplement, including an iron tablet. Everyone should be taking a multi because no one can get enough nutrition from today's foods. I also try to purchase organic whenever I can. I also eat more peanut butter than I used to. You can also try almond butter and other nut butters for variety. Eat it on toast, English muffins, celery sticks, apples. My 12 year old daughter learned how to make fried zucchini and puts that in sandwiches instead of meat.

well done for trying this out.
i do not think i could do it.
but i do not no how to help sorry

Just don't eat meat. Also, if you don't already, cook for yourself more.

well i became one when i was in kindergarden, and i cant even remember what it tastes like.
good job though for making that resolution- and yeah, itll be hard at the beginning.
it may help when your picking up meat, just think about what it is- pieces of a dead body.
also there are a bunch of vegetarian alternitives to meat- veggie patties and such
good luck =)

your on the opposite end of the veg spectrum. i think the best motivation is to save the animals. even if it wasnt healthy, this can be a just cause.

Only you know *why* you keep finding yourself eating a bit of meat here and there. Figure out why you do it (convenience? cravings? pressure from other people?) and tackle that reason directly. I didn't find giving up meat hard in the slightest; I just gave it up and never looked back (I literally had one craving, about 11 months in, but it passed and that was it.) I was, however, worried when I went vegan that giving up cheese would be very difficult. I made it really easy by trying lots and lots of new recipes in the first month or so; it kept my mind off what I was "missing" and on all the great stuff I was eating. I've now been vegan for 6 months and don't miss cheese even a tiny bit. So, maybe just pick up a few good cookbooks and commit to a month of trying new recipes. If you have lots of variety in your diet it might help.

On a scale, one side is your wish to be healthier and on the another is your wish to eat meat.

Well which side is more important to you, health? or meat?

Plus, I would suggest you increase your vegetarian meals - mainly beans and grains - that way you fell full and start eating even less meat.

um girl i dont think your ready to be a vegitarian

I have been a vegetarian for a little over a year now and being the ONLY one in my family has diffently been a challenge. What I do is eat the veggie meat. Morning Star Farms is a great brand! I actually like the veggie meat better now....I use the Burger Crumbles to make tacos, chilli, etc.with regular seasoning packets. There is veggie bacon and my personal favorite is the veggie burgers(Spicy black bean)You can also get chicken nuggets, turkey and roast beef(for sandwiches)and chicken patties that are all veggie meat! Go to PETA.Org and search there for recipes....that's helped me a lot. Once you stick with it a bit...the veggie meat will probably taste better to you too. Also, when out to eat,you can get salads,fries,vegtables...and the chef will useally prepare it the way you want it if the menu don't already have a vegetarian section.A lot of them do now. :) Keep it up,you'll feel better and have tons more energy!

Simple, think of "logics"....

Think the "golden rule", what is unconditional love, care, compassion; Condemn racism, speciesism, sexism, white vs black, rich vs poor, strong vs weak, domination, violence, cruelty in any manner, or egotism.

Now your mind will pretty much determine the "root cause" of all "evils", and why many historians, scientists, philosophers and thinkers chosen to be vegetarians...just by logics.

okay first of all
there is nothing really to prove you will be more lively without meat ... infact people feel dizzy and faint due to not enough iron which comes from red meat

second of all
if you eat meat every so often
then you are not a vegeterian and i dont know why you would want to be if you CANNOT get away from meat
