How much do you spend at the grocery store?!
Answers: I have a family of 5, we are vegetarians and I spend about $250 a week. I'm just wondering if I am spending too much.
Well I use a ton of coupons, rebates and in store discounts and my family of 4 eats for about 100 a week and that is 3 meals a day (my kids pack lunch). We don't eat junk either (I am a gourmet chef) so I won't skimp on quality. I do shop local farmers markets for fresher fruits and veggies and local butchers for the best meats so over all I spend 6+ hours a week shopping - but it is a passion. If you want to save more and get more try shopping local family owned stores they usually are loads cheaper nd fresher because they buy direct from the farmer with no middleman. Good Luck!
i am a family of 1 1/2. my daughter is still eating off my plate for the most part, and it all depends on what i get the craving for, if it is lentils and stuff like that i get off really cheap. but a big pot of good homemade chili or a homemade lasagna well then it can get pretty spendy. it is hard for me to keep track though b/c i hit the grocery store just about everyother day...
No, not at all. I'm in a house hold of 3 and we spend about $300.00 - $500.00 a week on groceries. We live high, but we like to get the best of everything. Plus, we have a LOT of company and parties so we also have to purchase a lot of good foods for parties of 20 or above. : )
there is 2 of us and i spend about $130 a week
About $400 per month, but there are only two of us. We're not vegetarians, but I buy a lot of fresh produce and very little pre-made or processed stuff. Because we both work from home, we're able to eat most of our meals in. That helps keep the cost down also.
$150-200 per week. Definitely our biggest expenditure next to the house payment.
I spend about $100 a week. It is just me and my husband. I make dinner and save enough for lunch. - that saves money.
Oh the $100 includes my two dogs and two cats.
To save money, use raw (soak and slow them) beans and buy seasonal veggies and fruit.
But quality foods, versus junk.
$50-$60 a week for two of us. Most of that is fresh fruits and veggies.
I live in a family of 5 with one vegetarian (me) and we spend an average of $200 on groceries/week. I think my food actually costs the least, (whats cheaper apples or chicken?). And also i don't buy much processed food, i could see a high bill occurring if you are purchasing a lot of fake-meat.
$50 pp is fine - that's how much I spend. I think it is a good food budget, especially if you have kids - they tend to take a lot...
