Help me out please? I want to become a vegetarian.?!
What do you eat/ love to eat? Or what would you eat if you were a vegetarian?
Answers: I'm thinking of dropping meat out of my diet but still keep fish or maybe chicken to it. What do you think? I'm 15. A few years ago I asked dad but he said I shouldn't because of growth. But now that I've realized that so many people actually succeed with being a vegetarian, I'm inspired again. I also saw a show on National Geographic that inspired me -> Brilliant Beasts - pigs. ^^.

If you want to become a vegetarian you cant eat fish or chicken, you have to drop all meats.
You may be interested in a 'pescetarian' diet, a primarily vegetarian diet that also allows fish in it.
If you are going to go vegetarian at your age you do need to be extra careful, though it is possible. Also, consider your parents. At your age they are providing for you and it will change their life too. If you are very serious, sit down and have a very serious conversation with them about it.
To properly survive a vegetarian diet at your age you would need to be careful to make sure you get extra protein, calcium, and fats. Having the fish in your diet as a pescetarian would help with this, but it can be accomplished fish free with tofu, beans, and dairy products, nuts, eggs, and making sure there are plenty of certain fruits and veggies in your diet.
There are certain nutrients that are very hard to get outside of meat consumption (vitamin b12, for example). You can atleast get them from milk and cheese and eggs, but you will need to add a good multivitamin to your diet.
You should check out websites like PETA, goveg.org, and www.vegsoc.org
They can provide you with tips, facts, and recipes.
Since you are 15 you will need to have a serious talk with your parents about your decision. If you are very serious about it, then talk to them about your choices and bring support to the conversation by doing a little research first.
A diet with less/no red meat tends to lead to less cancer, alzheimers, and heart disease. Present facts, and talk to them about how you would like to go about it. Also, about how you can help them to help you. Its going to be a big effort for them to cook/prepare food/pay for/keep you stocked with a veggie diet. Schools generally go not provide a vegetarian option, so youll be bringing your lunch and thats also an effort for your parents. You will be more expensive and strenuous to feed, and its right of them to worry.
However, there is nothing wrong with vegetarianism at your age, as long as you do it right. Study up and take care of yourself and let them know how serious you are.
Good luck!
vegitarians dont eat chicken or fish so if you trying to become vegitarian you can eat either of these things. But its really not that hard to find good food that substitutes meat.
That's great you're interested in going veg. Vegetarians don't eat any animals including fish and chickens, so you would still be considered a meat-eater if you chose to include them in your diet.
I enjoy vegetarian versions of the foods that I ate before I became veg. Pasta with Nate's Meatless Meatballs, subs with Tofurkey Deli Slices, stir fries with vegetables and faux chicken strips, etc.

That WOULD be a healthy diet, but vegetarians don't eat fish or chicken either. There are of course different types of vegetarians but aside from semi-vegetarians, who do occasionally eat meat, none of them eat fish or chicken.
eat plenty of fresh fruits/ vegetables.
you can have vegetarian chillli
vegetarian lasagna with different cheeses
go online and type in vegetarian meals/recipies and you'll see a large variety of meals with no meat.
Pasta dishes etc.*
There is no way i could do that, i love meat way too much.
Good luck to you.
please check the section of "resolved questions" as what you`re asking seems very old fashioned to me...basically i love ice cream and fruit yoghurt because they are the most fun source of calcium, pottasium, iodine and essential blood soluble amino acids..of course i take only small portions and most of my diet consists of a wide array of fruits and vege with occasional dairy and soy foods.I do take wheat based foods and rice in moderate amounts as well
I'm 14 and i've been a vegetarian for years. personally i enjoy eating vegetables and lentils and stuff makes me feel better in myself for trying to stick to a healthy diet. the best thing to do is cook some interesting meals, you can find some great recipe ideas on the internet. meat substitutes like quorn and tofu are also really easy to use.
also i would just like to say becoming a vegetarian is a great choice to make. i'm normal height and normal weight for my age so as long as you eat a balanced and healthy diet you should be fine :)
keeping fish in your diet is also a good idea although not essential.
I eat all foods. Different flavors, different type's, different foods from many countries. I love Thai food and Indian food. oh and Greek food.
Being a vegetarian allows you to eat great wonderful foods, and there is not animal in it.
Eat lots of grains, beans, and seasonal veggies and fruits.
Check out - this site and find/try foods you'll like and have fun cooking. You'll love some things but not others, like with anything else in the world.

Any reduction in meat consumption is good. However, I honestly don't think it is that difficult at all to be vegetarian anymore. I became vegetarian when I was early in my teen years, and this was more than 12 years ago (when vegetarian options were not as common as they were today), and I still didn't have that hard a time. Being vegan is harder (it took me many years to be successful as a vegan), but vegetarian options are everywhere.
I'm not going to discourage you from eating less meat, because that is certain in the positive direction. I think it's a great goal. However, if you really care about animal suffering, then see if you can replace the meat from your diet. There are soooo many vegetarian options available almost anywhere you go now. Almost all fast food places and restaurants have some vegetarian options.
I used to love meat when I was younger. But after seeing animals being slaughtered, and their blood squirting everywhere... I was so horrified that I started seeing meat for what it was, chopped butchered pieces of animal's bodies, and I could no longer eat any of it. So I'd really ask you to look deeper into yourself and your motivation for doing this. VeganOutreach has a great pamplet for meat-eaters, which helps one look at the reality of the situation as well as give great vegetarian alternatives:

Good luck.
You should see a nutritionist and talk to your doctor. It's a great thing if your able, but goes against biology. Many people become ill from it if it's not learned in a home enviroment. Even the Dali Lama had to give it up!
I'm confused.. how would you stop eating meat and still have chicken and fish? that's still meat. it would a good start though if you really want to become a vegetarian later on.
and don't even worry about getting the proper nutrition.. people have been vegetarian for AGES. many people were raised without eating meat and keep it off for their entire lives... so no need to worry.
I'm a vegetarian i'm 16 and have been for about two years. I still eat fish though, iv'e grown up with a grandma who is a vegetarian because meat makes her feel ill but she still eats fish. I've just followed in her footsteps, I don't eat meat because I love the animals it's because I don't like it. It's easier to say i'm a vegetarian who eats fish than i dont eat any meat at all unless it has come from the sea.
