Vegetarian/Vegan Question?!

Question: I would like to become a vegetarian and possibly a vegan. Can anyone recommend any fake meat that taste close to real meat? I've tried some, and some a good. Some are really gross. Also, can anyone recommend good fake cheese? I saw tofutti sour cream, cheese slices, and cream cheese. Anyone know if those are any good? Thanks for your help!

I don't really use fake meats however i have used the "morning star" brad which are alright... I use a LOT of tofu to get my protean.. i know a lot of people use other things.. i LOVE the "follow your heart" vegan cheese.. most health food stores have that. It's really good and tastes the most like cheese to me at least.. Tofutti sour cream is the BEST you really can't tell the difference in that.. the cheese slices are good on sandwiches.. i use them all the time i just get the ones that are on sale.. LOL.. i really can't tell the difference between the brands i also use http://www.vegweb.com a LOT.. that web site has great recipes on it.. and i use it on my non-veggie friends and they love a lot of the recipes.. i also always have Amy's organic on hand for everything.. the frozen meals and soups are GREAT quick and easy if your in a rush.. really got me off of stopping in a drive-threw.. hope this helps..

eat a lot of mushrooms

there's is always Tofurkey!!

if your still into eating meats whats the point of becoming vegan/vegetarien

Yes, Tofutti sour cream and cream cheese are really good. I'm not keen on their cheese slices myself.

Have a look at Redwood stuff - their chicken pieces, mince and chorizo are really good, and their cheeses are a good substitute, especially the melting ones. I don't know where you live, but if you're not in the UK there is a link to click on for Redwood food in America, Australia or Spain

My dad eats meat and he has been raving about how good Gardenburger Riblets are, but I haven't tried them myself.

My favorites are:
Nate's Meatless Meatballs
Tofurkey Deli Slices
Morningstar Farms Meal Starters Chik'n Strips

The Tofutti sour cream and cream cheese are really delicious. I'm not sure about the cheese - I use Follow Your Heart vegan cheese.

Good luck!
