Why is a vegetarian diet so much better?!
Answers: my family and i are going vegetarian for a week, im 15, sporty, and 5'11, so im woried about my health. What are the benfits, (besides not eating animals) to being a vegetarian?
Because I'm lazy, some direct quotes:
"...Cooked meat is likely to cause human beings, but not natural carnivores, to suffer from food poisoning, heart disease, and other ailments."
As well....
Vegetarians are about 40% less likely to get cancer...
Your risk for heart disease is cut in half, and you'll live 6-10 years longer.
There's a lot more info, and stuff you might not think that's in meat... antibiotics, etc.

You may well find you'll wanna go longer than just a *month - many people claim to feel more energetic, and have clearer skin on a vegetarian diet.
OH. And Einstein has a quote...
"Nothing will benefit health or increase chances of survival on earth as the evolution to a vegetarian diet."
well red meat gives you heart disease later in life
and if you dont eat meat you have a waaaaaay better chance of never having a heart attack.
The American Dietetic Association is one of the nation's leading nutrition experts. The organization states: "Vegetarians have been reported to have lower body mass indices than nonvegetarians, as well as lower rates of death from ischemic heart disease; vegetarians also show lower blood cholesterol levels; lower blood pressure; and lower rates of hypertension, type 2 diabetes, and prostate and colon cancer."
Research has shown that vegetarians are 50% less likely to develop heart disease, and they have 40% of the cancer rate of meat-eaters.

Good luck!
No diet is automatically healthy. A purely vegetarian diet does not assure anyone of being in good health. However, the risks associated with excessive food consumption can be lowered by a healthy, well balanced vegetarian diet. But an unbalanced diet whether omni,or vegetarian is unhealthy.
The only purpose of eating is to provide your body with essential nutrients that it needs to function and to help ward of potential damage caused by a multitude of factors (disease, aging, environment etc). You need to learn what these nutrients are and make sure that they are present in a vegetarian diet. Omnis who follow these guidelines are just as healthy as vegetarians who also do so.
I am a vegetarian and I pay careful attention to what I eat. As much as possible, I try to avoid "junk" food which although can be vegetarian are usually extremely unhealthy.
lower cholesterol is the only thing that will make it healthier, but it is alot of work to make sure you are getting proper nutrients. it can be done, but it's alot of work
